We bought this for our ferals, and it is a bit small, but cats fit into small places and feel safer in them, and stay warmer easier than a roomy place full of cold air. We threw some straw in the bottom and actually did some minimal improvements that have made this stand up to harsh winters for several years now. First, I caulked around the edges outside to keep water out of cracks. Second, the item itself was painted/coated and I did a couple coats of quality exterior house paint (Sherwin Williams Duration) which made this thing nearly indestructible. It has weathered winters down to -18F and summers to just above 100F with humidity. It still looks good. So - some paint and caulk, and this thing is a winner. Mostly importantly, the cats do enjoy having the little double doors to go in and out, a hidden upper chamber to sleep in, and the roof is a big hit for high up lounging.

We took in a young feral cat and her kittens several years ago. Kiki, the mom, preferred to live outside but her kittens were the opposite, preferring to live in our home. When I found this cat home, I put in on our covered porch by the front door and it's held up extremely well. Kiki uses it when it's cold. As she's gotten older, she's coming in more and more and that's fine with us. This cat home is adorable decoration and we've had many compliments on it.

Our neighbor bought one of these as well for stray cats and then it started to fall apart and he gave it to us to use for our barn cats. It is a piece of garbage and would not recommend it to anyone unless you want to keep it indoors.

This house is too cute, goes together well and is of good quality. However, after I tried to coax the cat in with treats, etc. it became clear he was too big. I don’t consider this cat huge, but there is no way he could make it between floors. Too bad we didn’t realize this before we bought it and put it together. Now, we can’t return it.
