Thyrozine Powder (levothyroxine) is used to treat low thyroid levels. This medication belongs to the general group of medicines called hormones. It is used when the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. Each level teaspoon delivers approximately 12 mg of levothyroxine sodium.

Cat diagnosed hyperthyroid. Vet sold us Hills Thyroid. Full of corn and cat allergic to corn. She doesn't know iodine content of other foods. Need high protein, no grain, no fish, good taurine and low salt and iodine below .4. Can't seem to find that info. Bought Merrick Purrfect Bistro Grain Free Chicken which met requirements. But it is dry and 1/3 of it is powder. Have always used Natural Balance but iodine is 2.2. Can you tell me what the iodine/salt content is in a food that will work
My dog is on 0.5mg Levothyroxine but the human pharmacy gave me 0.05mg. Is this the correct dose or am I under dosing?

Hello! Regarding homemade diet for my 15 y/o hyperthyroid and early CKD cat-- 1) Due to hyperthyroidism, is it ok to leave out iodine salt in the recipe? The methimazole keeps the TT4 at around 1.7. 2) Is it true that dark meat has lower phosphorous levels and is a better protein choice than say ground beef? Thank you!
Can tony take a lysine supplement with his other meds:amlodipine besylate, methimazole, tumil K potassium supplement and mirtazapine appetite stimulant? He also eats a kidney diet and I wonder if the powder lysine supplement may flavor the food and make him like it better? Thanks!!
Hi! Tony is on methimazole and his most recent labwork Says his thyroid level is 1.8. Is this is a normal level? I ask because he lays by his water bowl a lot but his kidney levels are good but I was told hyperthyroidism can cause extreme thirst...1.8 is not considered hyperthyroidism right? He also takes amlodipine for High blood pressure. Thx!
My retriever mix was recently dx with hypothyroidism & put on Thyrosine (1/day) & Cimetidine (2/day). I only gave her 1 Cimetidine yesterday. Last night she brought up some white mucous-y stuff & may have vomited/regurgitated. She kept going out and eating grass, whining, & licking her lips. Appetite is fine & she’s acting OK so far today but I’m worried the hypo could’ve caused ME. Vet said to bring her in Monday if she gets sick again but I’m going to worry all weekend. Thoughts?

My Labrador Retriever was diagnosed with hypothyroid disease in June 24. Her TT4 results were 5.6. In November, her results were 5.8. Are these indicative up hyperthyroid disease? I'm concerned she shouldn't be taking Thyro Tabs. She is currently taking 0.9 mg per day down from 1.2 mg per day. She is approximately 70 pounds.
