I purchased a whisper 26 months ago and gradually just stop pumping. I thought it was the air stone bought a new air stone and still same problem.

My 10 and 20. Gal. I replace my bubbler stones New. I presoak in water..for hour. my old 10-30 pump. Wnt have enough presser to do Notting .at the new stone. I brought a new Wal Mart band. Air pump. .was junk. I took back. I went to Petco. ,The 40 whisper.pumps.were on sale I got two new. .and replace my old two . My new stones.have so much power and Strong ..now.!!!!! Wow wow !!! Perfect airpump. It easily handles both sponge filters, a bubble stone and a bubble want for my 20 gallon aquarium (I prefer to overfilter). It is as quiet as can be expected and small enough to be out of the way.

Air pumps don't last too long, we have to get a new one every 2-3 years, but this one is the quietest!

This pump is very loud in a smaller space. Luckily the TV drowns it out. The name is deceiving.

We bought this but what is supposed to be used with it? It doesn’t say anything about needing additional stuff to work. However the instructions show at least 3 other parts needed to use this????

DID YOU MEAN THE TUBINGS AND IF DESIRED YOU CAN USE SOME ACCESSORIES. BUT OTHERWISE IT COMES IN ONE WHOLE CONNECTED PUMP. OR SOMETIMES IT COMES WITH A CHECK VALVE WHICH MAYBE DROPPED OUT OF THE BOX OR IT WASNT THGERE ANYMORE WHEN YOU PURCHASE IT. THATS ALL I CAN THINK OF THAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED A PART OF THIS PUMP

how many watts to run the tetra 40 size air pump

I have two of these pumps operating on normal US house current for my 20 gallon tank. They work fine. I don't know how many watts they use, but they have not caused any problems with the electricity. I haven't had any blown fuses or any other problem. The pumps work fine. I've had them for over 3 years.

Could I use the inlet port to pull a vacuum? If so is a mechanical connection feasible and what sort of suction might I expect? Would this "blocked" flow condition harm the motor?

Yes, of course. What size you use will depend on the size of the stone or wand, how many you have, and so forth. You might want to add a gang valve so you can adjust the flow rate independently.
