Description

Please note that the product information displayed is provided by manufacturers, suppliers and other third parties and is not independently verified by Petco.

Tetra BettaSafe conditions tap water to make it safe for your bettas (Siamese fighting fish, or betta splendens) by neutralizing harmful chlorine, chloramines and heavy metals present in most municipal water supplies. Condition water monthly to protect your bettas and reduce stress. Use 7 drops per gallon (2 drops per liter). Betta fish are best known for being small, colorful pets with big personalities. Male bettas in particular have an amazing variety of tail shapes, ranging from half-moon to spikey and crown-like. Since bettas require minimal maintenance, they're a great species for beginners. If you're keeping bettas in a larger aquarium with filtration, be sure the intake and water outflow are gentle. If a single betta is kept in a bowl environment, filtration may not be practical, so complete water changes should be performed weekly.

  • - WATER CONDITIONER: Makes tap water safe for bettas and other ornamental fish
  • - REDUCES STRESS: Neutralizes harmful chlorine, chloramines, ammonia and heavy metals in aquarium water
  • - FAST-ACTING: Works in seconds
  • - COMPLETE FORMULA: Use when setting up a new aquarium, with monthly partial water changes and evaporation replacement
  • - USAGE: Use monthly for maintenance

I love Aqua Safe for Bettas and have been using it since 10/27/2023 when I setup this first Betta Tank. But now, I am a bit confused. These directions here say 7 drops per gallon, yet the directions on the bottle says 14 drops per gallon. Are you erring on the side of caution? Now, I am not sure whether to use 7 or 14 drops per gallon. Please help me to understand. I bought this Aqua Safe for Bettas, Aqua Safe, and Easy Balance Plus. Considering that I just started a 5G Quarantine Tank and a 10G Community Tank... can I also use AquaSafe in my Betta Tank instead of this AquaSafe?

No, I do not recommend this product.

Pretty sure this killed my kiddos first beta. I followed the directions on the back stating 14 drops per gallon. The description on the site says 7 drops per gallon. We have a 2.5 gallon starter tank. Fins was floating by the next morning on the bottom. We reviewed with the fish expert at the Petco and they said this was most likely the culprit. We used this with only 7 drops total after cleaning everything off for the new beta Fins Jr. and he seems to be doing ok. Not being an avid fish keeper I followed all the rules. Too bad the packaging is misleading. RIP Fins.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Our male Betta was happy and healthy until we used this. He was dead within 3 days. Would not eat after we changed the water assumed it was stress. My little boy is devastated. Second product of your that is terrible. Never again.

This stuff is great not just for betta fish it works for guppy fish and aquatic turtles to. It's even better than the one for turtles because it doesn't cause the water to have a slight green color and it adds stress reducing coat for easily stressed turtles. It's no to slimy. I don't need a lot of water for my baby turtles so I only fill 1/3 water for my 10 gallon tank. I fill up four one gallons empty jugs with tap water add enough drops let the jugs sit for 1 week before I use the water. This way you can insure that the chemicals from this stuff is not to strong, the water is safer to use and the water will not be cloudy.

How many drops per gallon should you actually use? In the pictures of the bottle the directions say 14 drops per gallon, in the typed "details" section below the photos it says to use 7 drops per gallon.

  1. I use the directions on the bottle. The website could have a typo.

does this soften water

  1. I'm not sure if this would be called a water softener. I use it to remove chlorine and any chemicals in the tap water that I add to my betta and tetra aquariums. It works great.

Can I use this with API aquarium salt?

  1. Yes, this water conditioner is fine with salt.

Can you Put aqua safe in the tank while the fish is in it

  1. Yes, you sure can! You do not need to remove the fish for partial water changes or topping off the tank. You can either add the AquaSafe to a bucket holding your new water or you can add it straight to the tank.

Will this also protect fins and scales ?

  1. Yes, it has an additive to help protect the fish and encourage slime coat production.

does it work for all fish or just betta

  1. It will work for all fresh water fish.

is this invertebrate safe? i wanna use this for my land snails.

  1. Yes, it is safe for all aquatic animals, including snails.

Is this safe for glofish bettas?

  1. Yes, this product will work just fine for even the glofish variety of bettas.

I have never used water conditioner before, dose this make the tap water completely safe? I don't want to hurt my beloved betta.

  1. Yes. It makes the tap water safe. After adding the drops we let the water sit a few minutes before adding it to the tank.

How long do I wait till I can put my betta,Moon, into his little 1 gallon tank?

  1. Right away. It works instantly. :D
