New PetCan a breeder's puppy shot be used for boarding? Is a collar safe?
Lexi is very cute. This vaccine given by the breeder will likely not be acceptable when you need to board. Places like that typically do not recognize breeder given vaccines, and vets do not either. This is because places that sell vaccines OTC often store them wrong or people give them wrong, rendering the vaccine ineffective. So many vets, including me, have seen dogs come down with deadly diseases like parvo and distemper who have been vaccinated at home or by a breeder. It's not worth risking their health to save a few bucks, as in the long run if the animal does get parvo or distemper, it's going to cost you a hell of a lot more to treat than if you had the vet give the vaccine in the first place. There is no problem using a collar. I hope this helps!
