Not Great for Huskies

BusyPawLife

I have 3 Siberian Huskies, located here in DFW, Texas, so it's HOT, HUMID majority of the summer which makes them less active as they prefer to cool down indoors unless I set out the pools. We lately had some good winters and they are more active running laps (6yrs, 4yrs, 3yrs old). After they finished this bag of food I noticed they acted like they were starving all the time, their coats were dull, one of my girls gets itchy patches if she eats grains and this food claimed grain free but she started to bite herself in the same areas back when when she was eating grain foods. They all started acting out by grabbing anything on the counters which they never done before, the young one will eat poop outdoors and they all just walk around eating grass or weeds. They all never showed this behavior before switching them off to this brand. I noticed the ingredients show canola oil, which is the cheapest oil and should be used in moderation for dogs, but how can that be possible if that is their primary meal multiple times a day every day? I was advised that hard food is still cereal with some healthier than others, I decided to try to find a cheaper alternative, but this food is like the lucky charms of food and I feel a responsibility to feed our dogs higher grade hard food since they don't get a choice of their own.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Best Life-changing Food we've found for our Dogs!

DogMomOf3

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 3 dogs used to struggle with allergies to chicken and grains, from itchy skin, to red paws and runny poops. They have improved immensely. My eldest now has energy like a young pup, their stools have gotten more comfortable and solid the Purfect consistency. They aren't scratching anymore like they used to and now they all have shiney coats, loads of energy and perfect amount of spring in their step. This food has been a life saver and will never go back to ANYTHING else as long as they are alive. Thank you so much for creating a dog food / kibble and wet food that has changed my fur children's life in more ways then one.

Freya no longer has stomach issues

Wildwoodhounds

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Freya is a German shepherd and she comes with the classi. German shepherd problems of skin issues but above all her stomach problems were a mess. I had tried several dog foods and she had constant loose stools that she had trouble controlling. I was at my wits end constantly running her in and out for potty breaks and ready to pull my hair out at her constant flatulence. She is such a good dog. She protects the homestead from predators and from break ins. She keeps me safe. And here I couldn’t help her stomach. Finally on a whim I bought taste of the wild wetlands food. Mostly because I liked the packaging. The answer to all our problems no more scratching and no more loose poos. She’s happier and healthier than ever. Odin, her partner, doesn’t complain about the taste either.

If you have any additional questions, please contact us by visiting https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/contact-us.

Can my 3 month old australian cattle dog eat taste of the wild wetlans dry dog food?

  1. Hello and thanks for your interest in TOTW! Wetlands Canine was designed as a maintenance recipe for adult dogs and would not be a suitable option for a puppy. As a general guide, we recommend transitioning puppies to adult food at about 10–12 months of age. In the meantime, we recommend continuing on a puppy-specific or all life stages recipe. Please note, our puppy formulas were formulated as all life stages recipes, meaning they meet the nutritional needs of dogs at all ages, from puppy to senior. These recipes include specific nutrients, like added DHA that aids in brain and eye development, to help your puppy grow to their full potential. Our all life stages recipes include: Pacific Stream Puppy, High Prairie Puppy, Pine Forest Canine, Southwest Canyon Canine, and Sierra Mountain Canine. If you have any questions or would like a recipe recommendation, please contact us by visiting our website https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/#contact-us.

I have a Pointer mix and a Collie mix. Both are around 50 pounds. Their skin has been dry and coat has been dull. Would this dog food be good for them?

  1. Hi there – we would love to provide a personalized recipe recommendation for your Pointer mix and Collie mix; so we can learn more about your dogs, can you please call us at 1-800-342-4808 (8 a.m. – 5 p.m. CT weekdays)?

I have a 20+ lb 14 month old pit who is on the puppy formula. Would it be ok to switch him to the adult formula now? And do I have to ween him?

  1. Hello and thanks for being a part of the TOTW family! Yes, you may transition your Pit Bull to our Wetlands Canine Recipe. We recommend a gradual transition between formulas over a 7-10-day period in order to prevent digestive upset. You can do this by starting with 25% of the recommended feeding portion of Wetlands mixed with 75% of the recommended portion of the puppy diet for 2-3 days. Then, 50% of each for 2-3 days, followed by 75% of Wetlands with 25% of the puppy recipe for 2-3 days before feeding Wetlands entirely. Also, be sure to check the feeding guide on the bag to ensure you are feeding your dog the correct amount of the new recipe. Please know, if you’d like to keep your Pit Bull on our puppy recipe, they are formulated as all life stages recipes, meaning they were developed to meet the nutritional needs of dogs at all ages, from puppy to senior.
