I bought two in Oct. 2023. Have used them every day since then. I gave it 5 stars because I think it's as good as can be, not perfect but I wasn't expecting that. I followed the instructions for training the cats to use the feeders. I think that I was more nervous about the process than they were. If you move a feeder around, it is possible to accidentally press a button in the back and thus change the state it's in - for example, put it back into training after you're past that. The instruction manual is good about Troubleshooting instructions, especially re the colored lights. I bought them because I have 2 cats; one is a grazer while the other eats any meal immediately. Without these feeders, I'd have one fat cat and one skinny.

Bought 2+ years ago and I have mixed feelings on this product. Which is why I am hesitant to purchase a third that I need. I cannot purchase another because no other brand truly works with the microchip installed in my cats. Where it is lacking is simple. Having to purchase a separate piece to really protect the food is ludicrous. I agree with a previous review, that is a super design flaw corrected at the consumers expense. One of my units periodically goes into new cat mode, blinking green light, and if I do not notice and the appropriate cat is not reintroduced to that feeder, it opens that feeder up to all other cats. Unfortunately since I feel it is necessary to purchase a third feeder, I will do so with reluctance. Additionally, the biggest loss in going from a bowl, is lack of elevation. My oldest will be going from eating at his shoulder level to eating on the ground because I have been unable to find an appropriate stand that fits the feeder.

I’ve had it for a month now and it opens for the cat that it should not. I’ve redone the calibration multiple times to only have one cat register but it glitches all the time. For the price I wouldn’t recommend

This product is not just useless; it’s potentially dangerous for multi-cat homes. Because the rear and sides are completely open, my other cat can easily sneak in from the back and eat the food while the authorized cat is using it. This is a huge safety risk if you use the feeder to administer medication. If a healthy cat steals food containing meds meant for a sick cat, the consequences could be severe. To actually make this safe, you are forced to buy the rear cover, an additional $38 (+taxes and shipping) purchase at the time of writing this. It feels like a ripoff to have to pay that much extra just to make the device safe and usable. An expensive product like this should work out of the box

Ok Love Love Love this Sure Feeder from Petco. No more having to stress that picky cat is starving bc selfish cat is gorging on all the food. Just need to make sure to have 4 - C batteries on hand at all times. 4 stars due to wishing the batteries were a backup during power outage and the unit plugged into an outlet for continuous power. Previously I tried multiple bowls through out the house, set feeding times, and free grazing. Still one cat stayed skinny because she's a picky snacker and the other just kept growing. The bowl reacts to skinny cat's microchip, the same one to scan if she was lost. I left it in training mode a few hours with delicious snacks whike keeping gorging cat entertained. Then we started the next training phase of more delicious snacks and words of encouragement with the door opening and closing. The Sure Feeder will allow skinny cat to take her time and graze through out the day and I can ensure gorging cat stays at a less than obese weight. Gotta have your winter kitty curves 😉 🐈‍⬛🐈

My problem isn’t with the feeder it’s with Petco. I order two of these, one clearly came already used - it had food bits still on the mat, nothing was wrapped in plastic and things were missing. I contacted customer service. I found them to be originally helpful as they sent a replacement. The next issue is that the replacement was also clearly used and also had food stains, no packaging, missing items. So I contacted customer service again and they’ve been uncommunicative for many days. This has been a weeks long process while I’m trying to get my cats on veterinary diets that are very important for their health. These things are not cheap, so to be playing around and sending customers pre-used products like this is rediculous

Received a used product. I took it back to the store to return and Abby, the customer service rep was fantastic.

Bought this as a friend had two for her cats and they were happy with the results of feeding different food to each cat. So far have the same issue with two different foods for two cats and is working out for us.
