Excellent product. Works well with my cats chip. Needed a door with a chip reader to only allow my cat through and prevent others from accessing. Used the pet door version vs cat door for larger size

This door works amazing!!!! The door did not work with my cats chip but it came with a tag that I put on a collar then it worked great.
I had other neighborhood cats coming in eating the food and starting fights with my cat. This door will not open for other animals.

One way door only
Note that this door (the SureFlap Microchip Pet Door) is a ONE way door only. I read the descriptions and commentary and it had seemed like this door would be able to control both exit and entry, but unfortunately it only controls entry. We had hoped this door would allow us to only let our adult cats exit and entry privileges while keeping the kittens indoor only but no such luck. Apparently there’s a different model (Dual) that can control both directions but the opening is only 5” x 5” and that’s too small for our cats. Am hoping that Petco will let us return this, otherwise, we just bought a very expensive flap door...

Too many mice coming in with cat
This product's greatest shortcoming for us is that it allows the cat to enter when gripping a live mouse in his jaw. The feature that would substantially fix this would require a light + camera / image processing software, so that the flap remains locked when needed to exclude unwanted cat-catch. A next best would be a camera and internet connection, allowing the parent to issue a "go/no-go" decision upon seeing the cat up close/

Doesn't this require the "hub" so you can connect it via wifi and the app?
How long does the door stay open after a registered pet goes through? We have some pets we do not want getting outside.
Is the flap removable until I get my cat used to going through the door?

will this door work in extreme weather conditions the door i have now keeps blowing open as it faces directly west
Is this door dual scan?
- No! It lets all pets out of the door in other words it stays swings open all the time on the inside so all pets can go out. but it locks coming in from outside so the pets have to have a microchip or a microchip tag in order to get inside.. We purchased it so our small dogs could go outside but the cat could not so the only way we could make this do that is we had to reverse the set up by putting the indoor side of the door outside, the only issue you have doing this is any animal outside can come through the door but then only the programmed microchipped pets can go outside which was ok with us since we set it to lock mode in the evenings… had I known this was the way it operates before I most likely would have search for something else which would work both ways…
