Good Lower Fat Recipe--Works for Dogs Too!

ReviewerWest

Been feeding my dog freeze dried food for years (cuz previous owner was), but a major (but expensive) brand I was using changed manufacturing plants & all recipes got much fattier (you must approx double % fat on bags for % fat of calories). This EXACT Stella & Chewy's Salmon/Chicken Cat version was the Lowest in Fat I could find! So, I mix a portion of THIS in with Acana Freeze Dried Duck Recipe, Turkey, or Beef (Beef is fattier), or mix a greater portion of THIS in with the expensive brand that became fattier so I could use it up while lowering the total fat. My dog's bowel habits are best when the fat % is under a certain amount. My cat that I used to have (was on high-end canned food for life) ended up with a fat-metabolization problem--if I get another cat in the future I would feed him this too (and watch fat content). The added Taurine in this doesn't hurt dogs.....any they don't need they just slough off.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Cats go crazy when its dry, but not rehydrated

keri

I wanted to start adding freeze dried to my cats food because of its high protein ingredients and most of all no thickeners or binders. The plan is to get to half freeze dried half canned food. I let my cats have a taste in its dried form and they went crazy! So I went ahead and prepared their food by using 1 nugget per cat along with their usual canned food. Funny thing is, once I rehydrated the nugget, they didn't want it. I will continue to transition them trying different variations.

Yes, I recommend this product.
