Alfalfa Pellets helped my Senior Mare Gain Weight!

JuliaH52

We started our 18 year old mare on Standlee Alfalfa Pellets after she dropped weight from a harsh winter. She is finally starting to gain her condition back! We have tried several senior feeds, but none have worked as well for her as the alfalfa pellets. She also has heaves are arthritis that are triggered with inflammatory ingredients in grain, so a forage only diet works perfectly for her!

I switched my horse to these alfalfa pellets and saw her bloom. She filled out and her topline is noticeably more built up!

Excellent for Senior Horse

All my horses love the alfalfa pellets, but they have been essential to keeping weight on my old stallion who has now lost most of his molars. He gets a mash of the Standlee Alfalfa pellets and beet pulp pellets twice per day.

Better than other pellets

For the feed trial I switched my mule from a store brand alfalfa/Timothy pellet to the Standlee Alfalfa pellets. Right away I noticed he cleaned up all the pellet with his supplements vs with the other product some would always be left. After 30 days I think his coat and top line are improved. I like the consistency of the pellets from bag to bag.

I read that alfalfa pellets are good for your garden. Would these be the type of pellets that would work? Please let me know. Thank you.

How does it keep the pellets together? Is it straight alfalfa or is there something to keep the pellets from falling apart? Is there a binder?

    1. I don't really know what you are asking, but it is processed just like pelleted horse feed. I soak mine, because I have older horses, and they LOVE IT!!
