Recommended as acceptable in terms of phosphorus. He won't eat prescription kidney food so this is part of his daily food rotation.

My cat used to really like this food, I don't know if they just got finicky or something changed in the processing or if this is just a bad batch...but they won't touch it. Wasted an entire case.

No, I do not recommend this product.

My cat loves the food, but at least half of the cans arrived dented. I guess the shippers are just too hard on packages.

Yes, I recommend this product.

My 12 year old Tabby was recently diagnosed with early stage kidney disease. The quest for an Rx food Eli would eat began. He will not eat any fish product. Eats only pate and only chicken or turkey and it must be very moist..the more juice the better. He HATED each and every expensive Rx food we tried. I spent hours online searching for a non prescription food that suited his needs. I ran across a review for Soulistic Pate and after reviewing it's contents and reading more reviews I had found a winner!! I went to the local Petco, purchased a few trial cans. Eli gobbled it down, could hear him smacking all over the house!! I have a second tiny lady cat, Gracie, and she couldn't get enough of it either. So, much better than other regular foods and way better than the Rx foods and healthier! Can't believe Rx foods are full of all the junk you're not supposed to feed your pets! His Soulistic Pate is on auto ship and we couldn't be happier. Eli is doing great, had labs last week, kidney issues are at a minimum and had not advanced since first diagnosed. Eli is a happy guy! Handsome too!!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Caused tummy problems

I purchased this after reading reviews that this is good for cats with abnormal kidney blood levels. Though I am sure it is a high quality food, my cat's tummy disagreed. It is completely liquid, which is great for hydration! but she had constant diarrhea. I have been feeding this to my community cats who love it!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 10 of 15 Questions
Sort by: Newest Answers

what is the dry matter phosphorus % ?

  1. All of our detailed nutritional information, including phosphorus, is available on our website. This formula is 0.69% phosphorus on a DMB.

How many calories are in a small can of Soulistic Hydrating formula Chicken dinner cat food?

  1. There are 87 calories in a 2.8oz can. All of our detailed nutritional information is available on our website.

Do you use BPA Free Cans?

  1. As for BPA, the inner lining of Soulistic's 2.8, 3, 5.5oz cans are free of BPA and other epoxidized resins. On the 10 oz can, it is a little different. If you look on the inside of a can of this size compared to a smaller can, you will note that there is an inner seam. The smaller cans can be made on one sheet whereas a couple of pieces are used on the larger sizes. Where the pieces are fused together typically must have some sort of stronger lining so as to protect the food from the can and can from the food, and BPA is used there. The rest of the lining is BPA free. From the supplier: “Materials containing BPA, BPF, BADGE, BFDGE or NOGE (epoxidized novolac resins) are not knowingly added to [the] lacquer, and therefore this can be considered as being epoxy (BPA, BPF, BADGE, BFDGE and NOGE) free.” However, as other BPA containing materials are in the premises, our supplier does not guarantee that they are BPA free.

What is the phosphorus and protein on a dry matter basis. Also, fat, carbs, sodium, and potassium. I have a cat with CKD who is prone to pancreatitis.

  1. After treating 5 different cats over a few years time with kidney disease, my experience is to give them whatever they will eat. If you can mix in one of the wet foods specifically formulated for cats with CRD, fine, but if not let them eat what they want. I have given fluids for so many years I could write a book. Good luck!

our cat is almost 20yrs. old and has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. Is this food recommended for that condition?

  1. I can't answer from a medical standpoint, but my elderly cat also had hyperthyroidism, which I understand is common among older cats. He also had bouts of pancreatitis. The only thing he would eat in the last year or so of his life was the Soulistic pates. They kept him alive.

I am trying to order Soulistic Salmon and Tuna, but cannot find it on line. My cat loves it. I hate buying her Fancy Feast.

  1. Soulistic makes 2, Tuna & Salmon, both sold online by Petco only, one in "Hydrating Puree" & the other "Moist & Tender" in an packet/envelope.

What are the feeding instructions? How many cans per pound?

  1. The amount per day -- depends on how many meals you usually feed per day? Typically an adult cat eats about 3 oz twice/day; kittens may eat more often, therefore a higher amount per day.

Why does this product contain copper sulfate?

  1. Copper sulfate is the copper vitamin supliment ingredient.

Can you make a formula with out tapioca starch?

  1. Contact manufacturer for this answer.

What is Carbs percentage on per dry weight?

  1. Not sure how this applies to a wet food product. I would suggest contacting the manufacturer.
