Works as designed but scratches easily.

The ramp works well for our 115 lb. dog. It took some coaxing the first few times, but he uses willingly now because it no longer hurts him to load in and out of our Dodge 3/4 Ton, lifted pickup. We extend the ramp to its full length, rest it on the tailgate, and that provides a nice gradual ramp in and out. The material on the ramp DOES NOT HOLD UP WELL! It scratches significantly on the first use. Overall the ramp works well and it is easy enough for one person to manage, but it will look very used very quickly.

Excellent ramp

I’ve owned this ramp for several years now and have been very happy with it. I have a Lincoln Navigator and it’s essential for getting my large dogs safely in and out of the back. It’s very easy to use and a manageable weight. Both of my dogs use it with no issues. I believe this is the longest ramp on the market. I would love if it was a bit wider and the sides where a bit higher but, overall, no complaints.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Exceeded my expectations

I purchased this product for my two senior dogs; one a large great dane (approx 100 lbs) and the other a large pit bull mix (approx 110 lbs). The ramp was easy to use out of the box - no assembly required. I was skeptical that the ramp would be sturdy enough to accommodate my dogs, let alone the 400 lbs the manufacturer's advertised, but I have to say the ramp was definitely solid. As others have noted, the ramp does not lock into place when extended. However that really wasn't a problem once you were aware of it. The ramp does have a snap closure for when it is compacted. My dogs didn't have any sort of problems once they learned how to use the ramp (took about half dozen trips up and down for them to get used to it). Others had issue with the traction on the deck of the ramp, but my dogs didn't seem to mind. In fact, I felt it enhanced their trust in using the ramp. Overall I was very pleased with this product and would recommend it to others.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Essential ramp for a big ol’ aging dog

Stefanie N.

This ramp is perfect for my 135 lb cane corso to get into my lifted truck. It’s stable, sits firmly on the floor of the cab and doesn’t sag or bounce when Rocco walks up and down it- if it did, he definitely would not use it! I toss it in the bed of the truck and it’s ready to go whenever we are. It is exactly what we were looking for as my dog is aging and starting to develop arthritis in his front legs. We couldn’t be happier.

Thank you for this question, Amy. Our Telescoping Ramps are best used for helping your pet move from one stationary point to another. We would not recommend using this style of ramp to reach a bed as this is a softer surface that will naturally shift as weigh is placed on it potentially making ascending and descending unstable for your pet. We would recommend using one of our Wooden Bedside Ramps instead. <img src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/stratos-logos/logos/PetSafe.jpeg" alt="PetSafe" title="PetSafe" style="display: block !important; margin-top: 2em !important; border: 1px solid #ccc !important; padding: 2px !important; background-color: white !important;" /> <!--[if ReviewResponse]><![endif]-->

Excellent “AS DESCRIBED” ramp

Billy F

Bought this ramp 5 years ago for my aging 130 pound Rottie to enter the rear seat area of a 2008 Ford F-350 Crew Cab. He’s gone now but my 100 pound slightly disabled Presa Canario uses it now. I received a product that came exactly as described, & has performed flawlessly for 5 years & counting. If you read the ENTIRE product specifications & the detailed product description, you will NOT need to ask & wait for a response to any size & weight questions. I highly recommend this product.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

I have a Honda SUV and not a truck could i still use this for my car? I hear so many good things about it and i would like to purchase it

  1. We have a Tahoe. Our dog doesn’t like the drop from the seat to the ramp where it sits on the door step. So we have to use the back tailgate. The width of your door and the size of the drop between the seat to the door step and the determination of the dog will all determine if it’s possible to use with your door, no matter what car you have.

This looks like it will fit my needs exactly. I need a longer ramp to load my ebike into the bed of my truck. Bike is too heavy to lift up into the bed.

  1. Thank you for your question. The Happy Ride Extra Long Telescoping Dog Ramp is for pet use only. It should not be used to load an ebike into the back of a vehicle.

When collapsing this ramp, what size is it when storing..?

  1. Your answer is in the product description and

I want a ramp to help my senior dogs up & down the stairs, is it secure to use on stairs?

  1. Not inherently. There is no built-in mechanism to secure it permanently and, of course, the ramp itself can slide. The more severe the angle, the more likely such movement can occur. Like using it on a vehicle, I would check it each time it is used to make sure the top edge is still positioned correctly so it doesn't slip and create a hazard. I think of this ramp as a portable/temporary solution vice a fixed/permanent one.

how high are the rails

  1. Thank you for this question! Our Happy Ride Telescoping Pet Ramp measures 47-87” L x 20” W x 4" H.

How wide is the walking area between the rails?

  1. It’s in the product description… 17 inches

Is there any other material under the plastic planks, like aluminum planks for support?

  1. The sides are aluminum channel, the planks are plastic.  I used the ramp recently when my back porch stairs were out of commission.  i walked up and down, it bounced a little but was secure.  I weigh 190 lbs.

Is it water proof? I want to mount it to my pier and and let it set on the bottom is my dog can climb it and get out of the lake.

  1. Thank you for this question! This ramp is not recommended for use submerged in water; we do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I can't find length or height, please advise me. Thank you.

  1. It is in the descriptions. 21” wide by 48-87” long, depending upon how far it is extended.

Is this ramp able to be secured on outside decking steps so it stays in place at all times?

  1. We have a 5th wheel and need a ramp that can secure, or overlap a bit, for no slippage at the doorway.
