I am super happy this product came back- it is a great help when my pitty had cancer - we are back on it due to other health issues where she has to have lots of meds - would suggest this as an additive to help with tummy and meds

Yes, I recommend this product.

Within just a few days my Yorky’s digestive system was completely healed. For years I have tried many food varieties because of diarrhea, loose stools or upset stomach’s. I have literally tried everything. My little one gobbles this Solid Gold as soon as I place it in her bowl. There is no hesitation to eat and there isn’t a crumb left.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I have a very picky doggo. Not food motivated at all. I spoke to an associate at Petco who recommended this. It has a very strong odor and it attracts even the pickiest eaters. I mixed in with the chicken I made her and she ate it right up. Worth the money.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought this to help my dogs overall health which I believe starts with the gut! This aids in his digesting and appears to help reduce allergy problems! I use this along with a little kibble. He has healthier coat, ears and I can tell feels better!! I am trying to tell friends and family to give a Tbsp at least with their dogs food and may be surprised how much healthier their dog becomes!! ❤️❤️

No, I do not recommend this product.

I buy this from my local specialty pet store. Can someone tell me kcals/TBSP. One of my pups needs to lose some pounds, but I want to continue adding this to her kibble.

  1. This is large breed dogfood, higher in protein with less fillers. We fed our English Mastiff 2 cups of dry in the morning mixed with a bit of water and 2 cups of dry mixed with a can of Solid Gold wet in the evening. She maintained her weight of about 180 pounds with those numbers and moderate exercise without seeming to be hungry. In her younger years she was on smaller rations being about 150-165 pounds. I would never trust the manufactures recommendations of amount of food but it is a trial and error of what the dog is satisfied with and knowing your dogs eating habits.

I feed raw green tripe....so is this tripe "cooked"??? Seems like it would ruin it to cook.

  1. Typically any food product in a can has had some heat processing as part of the canning. Contact the manufacturer for clarification.

The canned tripe - can you freeze it in individual portions.  Don’t think I could go through a whole can before it goes bad

  1. As long as it's wrapped tight in plastic wrap before placing the portions in a freezer bag it will be fine.

Is this available in stores or online only?

  1. You have to buy a case of 6 to have it shipped to your home.  I had to do this buy calling and ordering it by phone to avoid the default to pick up in store.

Did the formula change?  I just recently bought a case of 6 cans and the product in the can looks nothing like/and smells nothing like the product i have been purchasing for several years?

  1. I agree, the product color and consistency have changed.  I don’t notice a smell, whereas the previous product had a stronger smell. I also think each can contains less product. My dogs aren’t as enamored with the product, but they do eat it eventually. I am disappointed by the product. I would have appreciated a notice from the company, Solid Gold, explaining the change.

How many ounce per lbs if the dog should be free?

    Are the can linings BPA-free?

    1. The big problem is, the can manufacturiing companies don't have to disclose what chemicals they use, as long as they claim it is a trade secret. These are the pet food manufacturers that I was able to find, who have stated their canned food is BPA free. There probably are more. The bottom line is, if this concerns you, then you should contact the pet food manufacturer. • Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul • Blue Buffalo • Canidae Pet Foods • Fromm Pet Food • Halo Pet Foods • Iams/Eukanuba Pet Food • Merrick Pet Foods • Nutro Pet Food • Petropics Pet Food • Purina Pet Food • Weruva Pet Foods • Natural Balance (The only Natural Balance canned formula which do not contain BPA are the 3oz and 6oz cans.) • Del Monte (our consumer products are produced by a third-party vendor, and they use protective coatings which contain trace amounts of BPA that fall well within current FDA guidelines) • Nature’s Logic (5.5 oz cans do not but there is some BPA in the large 13.2 oz cans) • Evangers Pet Foods (5.5 and 6 oz cans are BPA free. 13 oz cans contain trace amounts of BPA that fall well within current FDA guidelines) • Nature’s Variety (5.5 oz. cans are BPA free. 13 oz cans contain trace amounts of BPA that fall well within current FDA guidelines) • Natura Pet Foods (BPA is not in our aluminum 5.5oz cans. We are attempting to phase out coatings with BPA in our 13.2 ounce steel cans.) • Wellness/Eagle Pack (Some canned cat and dog products have a small amounts of BPA) • Wysong Pet Food (5.5 oz cans are BPA-free. The larger, steel cans (14 oz) do contain BPA)

Is the Solid Gold green tripe canned dog food good for dogs with kidney disease?

    1. Green tripe is naturally low in phosphorus. It is often recommended for dogs with renal disease, not only because it’s low in phosphorus, but also because it’s extremely palatable and can often help perk up the appetite of dogs that are not eating well due to feeling sick. Canned green tripe made in a complete and balanced dog food, like our Green Cow® canned dog food generally contains a higher phosphorus content than plain green tripe, but is often still within the parameters of the recommended diet for a particular dog with renal disease. It depends on the dog and the severity of the renal dysfunction. We always recommend consulting with your Veterinarian before making any diet changes for dogs with renal disease. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any additional questions.
