Rethink how you transition and feed your dog

I have been feeding Sojos for 15 years to my papillons. i havefed virtually every formula at various stages of their development from puppyhood to advanced seniors. I now have 4 seniors aged 11-17 years of age who all eat this formula twice a day. A few observations about feeding. First, transition from kibble can require anywhere from 7 to 30 days depending on the previous food in the gut. Plan on a ten day transition where you add Sojos gradually each day in increments of teaspoons for small breeds under 10 pounds to tablespoons for large breeds. Remember you are not just switching from one kibble to another. This may take a little more time for your dog to adjust . Second, be sure to rotate the bag before each meal to distribute the ingredients. Read the feeding chart carefully so you do not accidentally feed twice the recommended amount based on weight as doing so will cause frequent stools. The chart has the daily recommended feeding…to be divided and fed twice a day. Lastly, use hot tap water rather than cold or warm. After adding the water, cover and let soak for an hour on the counter. Never store in fridge for serving later. Never microwave to warm . My senior dogs continue to love their Sojos..even the senior formula. I especially love that it does not stain teeth, cause more than one poop a day, is easy to add medication to food if needed, anddogs love it do much that they let me know when dinner time is near , and always lick their dishes clean after each meal.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Loving it

So far my dogs love this food! Slowly transitioning from the dry kibble. Hoping this keeps my pups healthy. At 15 (Jack Russell terrier) and 11 (standard Dachshund) are doing well for their age. Also using for my 5yo Lab, not quite a senior, more middle age.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Poop issue

We slowly switched from the previous brand to sojos and the dog took the switch well (no diarrhea). She also enjoyed the new food. I gave it 3 stars, because the dog's poop increased in volume significantly to the point, when we fed her Sojos only, she woke me up at 2 AM to go for a poop. 5 poops a day total: Two in the morning, one noon, one at 10PM, and the last past bedtime. After giving it a week and this "poop" situation stayed, we switched her (slowly) back to her previous food and the old poop schedule returned. Sojos is now only given as an occasional treat. My dog: German Shepherd, 11 yrs old.

No, I do not recommend this product.

My two dogs have been eating Sojos most of their lives. One dog is 11 and the other is 9. Both have been very very healthy their whole lives. They really like the senior formula these days.

Won't eat it and don't blame her

I was excited to think I might have found something I didn't have to cook myself for my diabetic dog to add to her kibble which she will eat without toppings. She will eat raw treats from another brand so I had high hopes if I was sick or not feeling up to cooking I could use this, but not after what I saw or she smelled. Neither of us approved. And it took a lot longer than 15 minutes to look like real food, but even the extra time didn't improve her opinion of what was in that bowl. Moving on to something else. I bout the mix where you add your own meat too. Haven't tried that yet, but not sure I will. Maybe take it back for a refund is better than spoiling good meat . She eats green beans, carrots, apples, brown rice, spinach, and even brussel sprouts. Will eat salmon, loves turkey, chicken livers, chicken so got to think it is this that she objects to.

No, I do not recommend this product.

My dog wouldn't eat it. I tried various ways to get him to eat it (sprinkled shredded chicken over it), and he still wouldn't eat it. :(

I'm curious how many cups are in a 7lb bag of the Sojos senior food? I'm trying to figure out how much it costs per 1/2 cup serving.
