 It’s a bit thick and has a 1/2” thread border. I believe it could be cut but I’m not sure if it would start coming apart/unraveling. 

I sprayed the mat thoroughly with an enzymatic cat mess cleaner (like Nature's Miracle), allow to soak for a few minutes, then hosed thoroughly outdoors with a strong jet of water. I then allowed it to dry outdoors, ideally in direct sunlight, for 24 hours. The result was the mat was almost good as new, with no detectable urine smell. It's remarkable to me that the jute is easier to deodorize than rubberized/plastic mats, which seem to keep urine odors trapped even after cleaning.

There is no traditional grip on the back side so it will slide a little bit if your cat springs onto it or peels out, like my cats who think they are movie stuntmen. A piece of rug gripper that you can get from Target or other retailers that sell rugs should do the trick.
