Call to complain 1.855.327.7382

Maybe if enough of us call to complain, they might change back to the quality clumping litter we used to get refills of. It certainly felt good to take action, orher than just leaving a review they won't pay attention to. As the refillable bucket says, "contact us at 1.855.FAQ.Petco" That's 1.855.327.7382, and select option 5. To their credit, I spoke with a real person, who typed in my complaint.

No, I do not recommend this product.

This stuff just sucks used to be a good litter. Petco has changed the litter now it’s a huge dust cloud that caused my animal to get really sick and myself to have an asthma attack I will never buy this litter again and quite frankly am considering never using petco again. Come on guys do better this stuff is all over my home now as I can’t even clean all the dust it sticks to the surface it gets on and super hard to get off. No wonder it’s clogging up our lungs.

Formula must have changed!

I've been purchasing this "refillable" cat litter for years and in the last year, they must have changed the formulation or went to a "non-scoopable" litter. It completely turns to mush when my cat urinates in her litter box and is absolutely awful to clean out! The price went up a couple of dollars, too, which makes it less desirable to buy this bulk litter. I've stopped using it all together and now buy a real clumping cat litter that makes cleaning the litter box a lot easier!

No, I do not recommend this product.

This litter used to be virtually dust-free but has gotten worse and worse over time. I won't ever buy it again.

Too dusty!

We"ve been using this litter for years in a multi-cat household. The formula changed over the past year and it is now extremely dusty. All our cats have developed a cough and have to wonder if it isn't the litter dust. There's a disgusting layer of litter dust over everything in room with the boxes. Switching brands to see if that clears the coughs.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Quality has gotten worse and worse

Started using this maybe less than a year ago. I switched because I loved the concept of a reusable/refillable tote. It was great at first, but the last few months have gone downhill. The litter is extremely dusty to the point that it's just everywhere, and I have covered litter boxes. Doesn't matter; it still finds a way. I feel the need to cover my mouth and nose when cleaning it, and I've even witnessed my cat using the box with his eyes closed and I can only imagine it's because of how bad the dust is. It makes me feel terrible! Looking for a new litter to switch to now.

No, I do not recommend this product.

NOT WORTH A CENT ANYMORE

I have been using the same refills for 5 years now- the past year it has gotten worse and worse- NO odor control AT ALL and as for the clumping, as soon as you touch a clump they just crumble into insanely smelly mess. At this point you shouldn't even be allowed to call it odor control OR clumping. Too bad, it was great for years and I loved the no waste with the refills.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I used to be very happy with this litter. It indeed was low to no dust. Not anymore! We have been using this letter for the past four years. Recently, it has become incredibly dusty to the point where I feel it is unsafe for my cat. The idea of refillable containers is wonderful; I wish we could continue buying this product for that reason alone.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 10 of 12 Questions

Is the refill rate only available for people with PetCo accounts? I was told for the first time last week when I went to buy a refill that I needed to pay the full price (AKA cost if you get a new container) because I didn't have an account.

  1. You shouldn't need an account because the refill price is listed right there in the store. As long as you bring in an empty So Phresh container.

Is this litter gluten free? I know they aren't eating it but tracking sticky gluten particles through the house might cause a contamination issue for some humans in our home.

  1. It is clay but whether wheat is added to it is a question that can only be answered by the So phresh people.

Why is the store price higher than the online price?

  1. Online prices are often different so I always take pictures in store and see if online prices are cheaper before I buy. You can check with your app in store if you have cell signal. I believe you can let your cashier know and get online prices if you let them know. Also try taking an advantage of 10-15% off over $50 order in store pick up and do the math which is cheaper.

I've used your refills for years! At the end of December, it's like it went from decent litter to backyard dirt!!! There are rocks in it!! When are you fixing this??

  1. I totally agree with all the reviews that say the nature of this product has changed. It no longer clumps well and odor control is worse too. I have been using this for 10 years. No longer....

Can anyone tell me what happened to the refillable litter in the last month or so? It's noticeably different. It's now super dusty, gravel like, a different color and crappy. Petco, please switch back! I've seen other reviewers mention the same thing.

  1. Hi Dani9. We have not switched formulas or manufacturer. Please check our return policy, https://www.petco.com/returns Thanks,

I’ve refilled my 16 lb containers for 5 years now, and for the last 2+ years at the one store near my area. Today I was told that refills are only supported for 30 lbs containers, but when I asked why I wasn’t given a reason. Is this all locations?

  1. I can't speak about what you were told in your store, but mine still provides refills of the 16 lb containers. But I've begun ordering 40 pound bag refills for $17 and having them delivered. Then refilling the containers at home.

Why can’t I bring in a 30 lbs container I already own to purchase a refill?  We can reduce plastic without having to buy a new So Phresh plastic container specifically.

  1. I'm not sure why they told you that. Perhaps they misunderstood and didn't realize you already had the containers and meant you need to purchase them first before you can refill. People try to show up with various other containers to refill which isn't allowed. But you are able to purchase the 40 pound bags on the website and have them delivered then refill at home. It does not create any "extra" waste. They fill the refill stations in-store using the same bags.

Can I bring in the 30 lb Dual Odor Control (pink lid) for a refill or is this just available for the “Refillable” (green lid) type?

  1. You can bring in either container for refill, but.. The litter in the refill station is the stuff with the green lid, NOT the multi cat formula.

Is this only for the clay litter or can this be done with the recyclable ones such as paper or grass?

  1. There's a tub of clay litter.  You fill up your container that you purchased previously at the store.  Works very well.

Can I use a 5 gallon bucket to get the litter in or does it have to be one of yalls containers? Can it be a container from a different brand?

  1. Hi BOOBOO2021, Please bring in either the So Phresh Advanced Odor Control Scoopable Fragrance Free Cat Litter 16lb jug or 30lb pail container in order to refill. These can be found by searching the following SKU numbers on Petco.com or asking an associate in-store. So Phresh Advanced Odor Control Scoopable Fragrance Free Cat Litter 16lb - 2297792 30lb - 2297805 Thanks,
