Simparica is a chewable that kills adult fleas, and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis), and the treatment and control of tick infestations (Amblyomma americanum (lone star tick), Amblyomma maculatum (Gulf Coast tick), Dermacentor variabilis (American dog tick), Ixodes scapularis (black-legged tick), and Rhipicephalus sanguineus (brown dog tick)) for one month in dogs 6 months of age or older and weighing 2.8 pounds or greater.

letting consumers and pet owners know that Simparica does NOT cover anaplasmosis. My healthy 10:year old dog was on it for 4 years @17 a pill. This year I noticed she was very lethargic. vet did blood work and she had anaplasmosis and pancreatitis. It was awful. I called the manufactures and was told Simparica doesn’t cover anaplasmosis!! Right on their box says black legged tick coverage which is how a pet gets this disease. No where on their box does it claim to not cover anaplasmosis. It cost me close to 2000.00 in vet bills because their medication did not protect my dog!

No, I do not recommend this product.

It was super easy to get. Gave them my vets info and they contacted the vet within a couple of days and got this sent out to me within a week. This was the same exact one I was buying from my vet but I was paying almost double at the vet’s. Good buy.

Note that this is only for fleas and ticks – it does not include heartworm protection. If your dog needs year round protection from fleas and ticks, you want Simparica TRIO, which includes heartworm protection! Now I have to order a separate heartworm medication. I wish it was written more clearly in the product description that there are two types of Simparica. Petco does not allow medication returns! Please do not make the same mistake I made!! Also, this tablet is not chewy like other flea and tick products. It is hard and solid. I had to put it in a treat to trick my dog into eating it.
