Great performance, not so great app

Blake1

I bought this heater a week ago and it does have some quirks but overall performance is great. The heater linking with the app thing is not intuitive. Every single time you go to adjust something it asks you to scan it to make the adjustment, it would then make the adjustment but if you ever need to edit something you’ll have to pull it up to scan it really quick and put it back in. My thinking is I don’t need to adjustment the temp constantly so I just set the temp and left it. Now onto the good part: I have yet to have a heater keep my 10 gallon tank at a constant temperature until this heater. If you can overlook the quirkiness of the whole app linkage thing the performance of the heater is great and I would recommend to buy just know what you’re getting into first!

Yes, I recommend this product.

TRASH HEATER FALSELY ADVERTISED

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT! I should have read the reviews, and it’s not “contactless”, you literally have to remove it from the aquarium and hold your phone up to the heater, literally trying to find the right spot. So yeah, I just dropped a brand new iPhone 16 Max Pro into the aquarium. Packing it up in its original box as we speak so I can go return this junk that has no business being stocked in inventory. Read your customers reviews PETCO!!!!!!!

Do not buy this heater! To change the temperature you need to take it out of your tank and then it only works sometimes. Sicce needs to stick to pumps this heater is a waste of money!

Awful product, please avoid

I bought this heater roughly 4 months ago, just as another poster did, and it stopped working. My unit never could communicate with the phone app while installed in the tank in the *correct* orientation. This is the 2nd sicce product I've purchased, and both products failed out of nowhere within months of purchase. My tank is now at 70 degrees and falling and I have to wait to purchase a new one later today. Avoid if you care about your set up.

Ridiculously Difficult to Set Up

This acquarium heater is ridiculously difficult to set up and program. It took my wife and I almost an hour to figure it out.

Great Product Idea but…

This heater is a bit more expensive than your ‘regular’ off the shelf heater. Very hopeful with the supposed, automation it would provide. However there are some caveats explained below. Appears to be very well made and carries a 5-yr warranty if you register it. Comes with detailed instructions that you can access via. the internet. The unit comes set at 77 degs and the ‘fun’ begins when you want set change the temp via the req’d app. The unit is unfortunately not totally Wi-Fi enabled as touted. The unit must be very close (almost touching) to the phone to register a scan to make adjustments. This can be a challenge, if not all but impossible depending upon where the heater is mounted (under water!) in your tank. To adjust, had to remove the heater so as to be able to connect to my phone. Suggest you set up your desired temp (unplugged!) before you install the unit in your tank. You can then monitor water temp (manually) to fine-tune the setting(by removing unplugged unit out of the water) via the app. A big misnomer is that unit unfortunately does does not monitor actual water temp. Would be a great product if all the supposed, ‘bells and whistles’ were totally Wi-Fi enabled. See for further info from manufacturer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPepr8BJBtI&t=161s Ultimately will keep the unit as it appears to provide reliable water temp and has a 5-yr warranty

Yes, I recommend this product.

Can't adjust temp without phone app

Marky B

I had this heater one day before returning it. To change the temp you have to install an app on your phone. You then have to sign into the app which involves providing personal info such as e-mail, etc. The app owner makes you opt into their marketing messages and share your personal information with their partner companies. I wasn't comfortable sharing all this with an overseas company and simply wanted a heater I could turn up or down at the unit. I didn't particularly appreciate giving away all my personal data to use the app as a simple temperature control. If there was a way to bypass their sign-up process and use the app offline I wasn't able to find it.

No, I do not recommend this product.
