Excellent product for smaller "nano" marine tanks

Excellent product for smaller "nano" tanks but air supply tube is fragile! This is a great product for removing excess protein from your smaller marine tank. It takes a while to "dial in" to get the right adjustment to maximize protein removal, but once adjusted, you will find the collector cup frequently filled with scummy protein. This is my second one. The first one I accidentally broke the hard plastic return air tube on the bottom. I super-glued it a couple times, and it continued working, but eventually glue got in the tube channel and wouldn't work. This is the best price on this model, and is excellent for smaller tanks. I have a 29g JBJ Nano, and it fits perfectly in the chamber in the rear sump.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Bought for my nano reef tank, fits in small areas

I recently bought this for my AIO Arylic reef tank and am very happy with the Skimmer. Seems to be of similar design as Aqua Euro USA Nano Tank Skimmer. I am using the small skimmer in the bulkhead area, since my needs are 20 gallons I did not want a huge unit buzzing away all the time since the aquarium is in the living room. The skimmer is extremely quiet and for 20 gallons does what it needs to for the cost. As far as construction the item is not cheap plastic like you may see from overseas online sites, so I do not expect the plastics to crack, Sera is an EU company. The chassis is 9 inches tall and about 2.75 inches wide at its base. You can clip the unit to the side of the glass and adjust or use the suction cups on the side. The base unit is of a molded design with the winding sealed in the bottom. The propeller does all the work of moving the water in. The US design is 120 Volts/60 hz and rated at 120 lph which is about 30 gallons per hour. Features: Easy to assemble, it has a base unit with power cord, the outside clear housing, internal housing, propeller, air tube, and top cup with lid. Adjustments: Height: The skimmer can be adjusted while on clip or suction cup up or down. As water is pumped through the unit air is drawn into the passing water through this small inlet tube which has an adjustment on it. I bought the unit because of size, price and having all the basic features of a skimmer.

Yes, I recommend this product.

So hard to configure it it is almost impossible shoulda spent the money on something much better like the reef octopus hang on the back protein skimmer. It is not worth it's money in frustration alone, this thing doesn't do anything.

No, I do not recommend this product.

What is the with and height of the skimmer?

Will this fit in an IM 10 gallon?

Can you use this in a freshwater tank

      1. Skimming off proteins works only dependent on the amount of minerals in the water. The brink for a functioning protein skimmer is around 2% salt contents in the water. Dissolved minerals (ions) are covering the surface of an air bubble generated either by air stones, venturis or needlewheels. Ions have a positive or negative electric charge and attract the huge protein molecules (and other dissolved organic matter, DOC) and keep them locked while they are fusing to form protein foam which is called flotate. Freshwater skimming with nearly no minerals dissolved works only if completely different constructions are in place. A skimmer made for the purpose of seawater however cannot work with freshwater.
