Sentinel Spectrum must be administered monthly, preferably on the same date each month. If given seasonally, the first dose must be given within 30 days of the dog's first exposure to mosquitoes. The last dose must be given within 30 days after the dog's last exposure to mosquitoes. Treatment with fewer than 6 monthly doses after the last exposure to mosquitoes may not provide complete heartworm protection. To ensure complete absorption, always give Sentinel Spectrum chewables to dogs either with or immediately after a normal meal. Food is essential for proper absorption of the product into the bloodstream.

My dachshund has been on Sentinel products since puppy age. He’s almost 15. He used to take original Sentinel, and when they came out with the soft chew (which is not real soft), I switched him to Spectrum. He has not had fleas or been infected with any kind of worms. And it does not make him sick, so I am happy with this product!

No, I do not recommend this product.

My yorkie is 8lbs.  Should I order the 2-8 lb. package or the next strength?

Can Sentinel Spectrum Blue safely be used with the Seresto collar?

    1. Thank you for contacting Drs. Foster & Smith with your question. There are no known drug interactions between Sentinel Spectrum and Seresto. The products are safe to use together. But as with any product, we always recommend discussing with your veterinarian whether this combination is appropriate for your particular pet. We hope this information is helpful. Thanks again for contacting us. Best regards, Veterinary Services Drs. Foster & Smith

Can Sentinal Plus be given along with Frontline?

    1. Thank you for contacting Doctors Foster and Smith with your question. Sentinel Spectrum and Frontline Plus contain different ingredients that work in different ways. As long as your dog has no drug sensitivities to any of the ingredients, these two products can be used together. The Sentinel Spectrum contains an insect development inhibitor, which prevents the immature stages of fleas from developing into adults. It does not kill adult fleas. That is where the topical product becomes important. In this case, Frontline Plus would kill the adults, as well as the larvae and eggs. Sentinel Spectrum also is a heartworm preventive and also treats and controls several types of intestinal parasites. We always recommend discussing products with your veterinarian before administering them to your pet. Your veterinarian can assist you in choosing the best products for your pet’s specific needs and also help avoid potential problems as well. We hope this information is helpful. Thanks again for contacting us. Sincerely, Veterinary Services Drs. Foster & Smith

Can the new Sentinal Spectrum and Nexgard be given together?

    1. My vet did let me give the regular Sentinal with Nexgard at the same time. Nexgard was very expensive though and my husky got sick two days after taking it but it probably was not related. We are thinking about trying Trifexis but that doesnt do ticks either.

What si the diff. between Sentinal and sentinal spectrum

    1. Thank you for your question. Sentinel Spectrum also contains praziquantel for control of tapeworms.
