Pristine uses bio-augmentation, a non-chemical and natural method, to improve water quality. It provides bacteria that break down excess food, waste and detritus in freshwater and marine systems. It will also reduce excess nutrients (e.g. ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites) that may fuel the growth of nuisance and disease-causing organisms. Pristine increases water clarity and promotes overall better health for the aquatic environment. The species of bacteria in Pristine are a unique blend, specifically developed for hardiness and their ability to adapt to a wide variety of environmental conditions. They thrive in fresh or salt water and can utilize a wide range of organic compounds, including fats that can cause unsightly films. Unlike traditional nitrifying bacteria, this bacterial blend can adapt to harsh or low oxygen environments and continue to multiply and improve water conditions. Biopolymers produced by established bacterial colonies trap particulates and increase water clarity.

  • - Natural organic waste management
  • - Rapidly and safely eliminates sludge and detritus
  • - Helps increase water clarity
  • - Marine and Freshwater

Shake well before use. Turn off UV/ozone. Use 1 capful (5 mL) for each 40 L (10 US gallons). Then use a maintenance dose of 1 capful (5 mL) per 80 L (20 US gallons) with additions of livestock or the disruption of the biofilter through cleaning or medications. Antibiotics should be removed with fresh carbon and a water change before adding bacteria. Allow 2 or 3 days for the bacteria to become established before using UV sterilizers or ozone. Recurring problems with high nutrients can indicate overstocking, overfeeding or inadequate filtration. Product shelf life is 4 years from the date of manufacture.

Questions

Sort by: Newest Answers

Will Pristine help with biofilm on new spiderwood?

After the initial dose how often do I use for maintenance?

Is this product safe to use with snails?

      1. Yes, it is. I have many different snails and used the product without any issues

will this get rid of diatoms (brown algae)?

      1. no it will not Pristine™ uses bio-augmentation, a non-chemical and natural method, to improve water quality. It provides bacteria that break down excess food, waste and detritus in freshwater and marine systems. It will also reduce excess nutrients (e.g. ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites) that may fuel the growth of nuisance and disease-causing organisms. I don't understand what it means when it says, "with additions of livestock or the disruption of the biofilter through cleaning or medications". I have one goldfish in a 25 gallon tank with a Fluvel filter. Nitrate levels have been crazy high.

      1. Additions in livestock is adding any new fish, shrimp, snail, etc. Disruption of bio filter through cleaning is turning or your water filter to replace cartridge and sponge.

Is this product safe for fresh or brackish water, aquatic turtles (Diamondback Terrapins) & semi-aquatic turtles, (red eared sliders)?

      1. I have two yellow bellies n a red slider the water is fantastic!!!

I currently have a bacteria bloom, will this help get rid of it?

I have well water that has heavy lyme in it ... would this product help in this or is there something else seachem has to offer?

        1. I'm not sure about treating for lyme. I will say that I treat all of my water with Seachem prime and it is a great product that works well and helps take out chlorine. My fish do well with it. You could try to use rain water or buy water from store which should be relatively cheap.

Does seachem pristine add beneficial bacteria to the aquarium?

        1. Yes it does and it does exactly what it’s supposed to which is to give you crystal clear water

Is Pristine similar to Stability? What's the difference? Does it do the same job like Quick Start? Does it cycle my tank within days rather than weeks? Is it safe for Better? How soon can I put my fish in the tank after I use it?
