Description

Please note that the product information displayed is provided by manufacturers, suppliers and other third parties and is not independently verified by Petco.

Flourish Excel is a source of bioavailable organic carbon. Because the processes of producing photosynthetic intermediates and building onto them occur simultaneously, one can derive a substantial benefit with the use of Flourish Excel, either alone or in conjunction with CO2. The combination is particularly ideal for situations when continuing to add CO2 could result in dangerously low pH levels. Flourish Excel also has iron reducing properties which promote the ferrous state of iron, which is more easily utilized by plants than ferric iron.

  • - Bioavailable organic carbon source for the planted aquarium
  • - Use as an alternative to CO2 injection or in addition to it
  • - Introduces photosynthetic intermediates

This did seem to noticeably improve plant growth. I used it more liberally at first and then more sparingly though. I will keep using it twice a week along with the Flourish fertilizer liquid.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Revived my plants

I have a very planted tank and I had bought some plants online. They came pretty much dead. The water wisteria was pretty much all wilted, had no roots, and was grown out of water so that is have to a climate it to submersed growth. I didn't think it would live at all. I tossed in a few stems to float just to see what would happen. That just so happens to be the same day I started dosing this fertilizer. All my plants started to grow some muck faster and bigger and greener. In just one week the water wisteria grew new leaves and shortly after grew roots. This fertilizer brought my plants back from the dead. Definitely recommend and I will definitely only use this fertilizer from now on. Even compared to the regular seachem flourish, the excel is superior.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Works great. Beats API CO2 liquid. I don't know what exactly makes Seachem version better but it really works better than others.

do I need to turn off the filters when using this product

  1. No need to turn off filters.  Some folks turn off filters when adding Xcel so the aquarium water is stagnant vs circulating so that the product stays near leaves that have algae on them.   What I find actually works better is to take out the plants (I have all Anubis’s) and soak them in a concentrated amount of Xcel.

How many capful should i add for a gallon?

Hello, I was wondering if this product was safe for Caridina and Neocaridina shrimp? I have a 5 gallon that I just seeded for grass and I want to add plants and see them flourish. In that tank I want to start a shrimp colony. Thank

Is this safe to use for water that reptiles drink from? I have a planted aquarium as a water source for a ball python.

could I put this in a tank that will eventually be used for my axolotl? (dose plants during cycling process and stop a few weeks before i actually get my new pet)

Is this safe for use in a tank with a snail?

          1. Yes, I use this product on a regular basis and continue to have six healthy nerite snails.

Is this safe for use with scaleless/sensitive fish? My four Kuhli’s have a bit of a hard time with my PH reducer so I’m being extra careful

          1. I used Seachem Excel with my four Kuhli loaches and they did just fine. I was careful to monitor them after adding Excel to the tank the first time, and they had no negative reactions. I used Excel to help alleviate some black beard algae in my tank.

can i use this product even im cycling a planted tank? will it not affect the water parameters?

          1. Shouldn’t be a problem, as long as you follow the dosage directions. If there’s no plants in the tank I wouldn’t use it yet as it would be wasted. I sometimes go over the dosage because my tank is heavily planted and it does not affect the plants and fish at all, just don’t overdo it.

          Is this safe for snails?

The majority of my plants are snack food for my turtle I keep in a separate tank. Will using this harm my turtle if he eats the plants?
