The Saddleback Butterfly is fairly hardy and adapts well to life in an aquarium if acclimated properly. Unlike other butterflies, the Saddlebacks cannot be added to an aquarium in a group. They prefer to be housed singly or in a mated pair. They won't do well with fish that are overly aggressive, but they will also nip and pick at fish that are very timid. Initially, these butterflies can be shy; making sure there are plenty of hiding places will help them acclimate. Like most butterflies, we don't recommend placing the Saddlebacks in reef aquariums, because they are very likely to consume a variety of coral polyps. This butterfly will grow to be about 9" in size and will need ample swimming space. Adults of this butterfly will need about 120 gallons; however, juveniles can get away with smaller aquariums. The Saddleback can be identified by the large black marking on their posterior dorsal fin, which resembles a "saddle." The dorsal fins are jagged and can get caught in nets.

ACCLIMATION: Avoid exposing new aquatic life to bright lights after opening the box. Turn off aquarium lights prior to floating aquatic life. Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. A bacteria booster addition can assist with the addition of new aquatic life. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe for the addition of new aquatic life. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried and frozen foods, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller aquariums.
If we need to contact you for any reason about your order, shipping of your package may be affected. Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email with your order summary. Orders are subject to verification of payment information by phone or email. We ship for arrival to the customer Tuesday through Friday and Saturday for an extra charge where available.

Hello i have a parrot with bald head and chest feathers are fluffy
One of my parrot cichlid has developed black eye which I don't seem to understand as to what is it exactly. Eye is swollen and a bit out of its socket. Previously it was white but now changing to black color. Due to this fish is hiding continuously and other fishes are pinching it.
Male sulcatas flash their penises. A friend said his female sulcata flashed her parts. Apparently it's been to a vet who said she flushed what's like a hemipenis. I'm concerned it is a uterine prolapse. My question is, can females flash?
Hi, My fish has white spot which is expanding. It also has something around mouth. Spot looks white with small dots in it. I thought it is an ich outbreak. Currently tank is treated with Sera omnipur (30% of recommended dose). It is big pufferfish. thanks for your help Nikola
Can I put red blood parrot fish Discus fish together in a same tank ?
My koi are loosing scales and one of my goldfish has white bumps on it's head. What could it be?
We just tranferred Joey from a 40 Gallon Tank to a new 90+ Gallon Terrain... He seemed to be pretty happy till today. We noticed right before we changed tanks that he had some dark coloration on his left side and tip of his tail.. He was shedding at the time so we figured it was part of it.. It has yet to go away, and today he seems VERY active, mostly attempting to climb the glass of the tank. I have attached a photo, Thank You in advance! ~Robert~
Why does my Betta fish have lines on his gills?
My fish is bulging is appearance and I am fairly sure is a female, the tank water is getting too cold for them though but I am working on that as fast as I can. I am worried she has dropsy or has eggs, what is going on?
