The Ruby Longfin Fairy Wrasse would be a perfect candidate to just about any aquarium and its peaceful behavior and bright coloration makes it very popular by hobbyists. The male's colors will deepen during courtship. It is strongly advised that the aquarium has s tight fitting lid because they are known to jump out. Their diet should include frozen meaty foods like brine shrimp, marine pellets and flakes. On occasion a seaweed strip should be added to add variety to their diet. This wrasse has a high metabolism so they should be fed several small meals rather than two large meals a day. They have a small adult size of 3" which is another reason why they are so desirable. Their colorations are very dependent on which part of the world they come from. They are primarily a red color (ruby) with a pale white underside. There are blue markings on their body and fins.

ACCLIMATION: Avoid exposing new aquatic life to bright lights after opening the box. Turn off aquarium lights prior to floating aquatic life. Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. A bacteria booster addition can assist with the addition of new aquatic life. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe for the addition of new aquatic life. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried and frozen foods, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller aquariums.
If we need to contact you for any reason about your order, shipping of your package may be affected. Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email with your order summary. Orders are subject to verification of payment information by phone or email.

I have a freshwater fish in my aquarium that I cannot identify. It resembles a Mosquito fish but is lighter in color, thinner, swims differently, and has what appear to be sparkles on its sides. I caught it with a net in a school of mosquito fish but it is different. it was the only one in the school that looks the way it does. I found it in the shallow part of a lake in Florida. Please help me identify it.
