Noticed 12 yr. F. Lab Retriever having trouble releasing urine. Visit to vet for vaccine, felt dogs tummy and suggested ultra sound. Suggested immediate surgery because many stones seen. After surgery said most stones ever seen. I saw them, 15 lbs of stones. Says needs to be on Royal Canine Urinary SO dog food for life. She is not tolerating more than 1/2 her food being this food. Am mixing with her old food Blue Buffalo Senior. Now suggesting other Brand. Need special food for life?
My dog had urinary stones and now is on Royal Canin GI low fat SO canned food to help prevent stone formation. Besides the same brand treats is there other human food such as carrots, sugar snap peas, meats etc that are safe to feed her?
My 3 year old 23lb. male corgi has a history of developing cystine crystals in his urinary tract and was put on Hill's U/D canned food as a result. I have been reading online about alkaline diets and was wondering if we could prepare food for him at home that would be sufficient in preventing the formation of the cystine crystals. The food he is on currently is very expensive ($42-$46 every 12 days). How can we determine the correct amount of homemade food or his weight and breed?
What would be the best wet dog food for her weighing 3.3 lbs. 4 years and has Periodontal desease? And can I purchase at Petco or Petsmart? Thank you
My small dog has stone bladder but he also has pancreatic disease .I wonder if he can eat urinary royal canine for dog?
My dog is eating urinary s/o for about 3 months because of bladder stones but he has been losing alot of weight an not as active an eats it only because I guess it there do I have to keep him on this diet for long term?
Female cat had urinary crystals w/ UTI & vet RX'd royal canin urinary so for two weeks. After that time can I switch to Royal Canin OTC urinary & hairball food? Its half the price.
My cat was almost two he was diagnosed w/FLUTD and had crystals in his urine. He had a perineal urethrostomy after being diagnosed. He was originally on hills science c/d and s/d but that became very expensive. He has been one Purina One urinary tract health dry food for about 1.5 years and has had no urinating issues. I want him to lose weight (18lbs) & don't know if his wet food should be urinary or weight loss focused and what his dry food should focus on since I'm doing a mixed diet.
One of our male cats recdently had a blockage and we had to take him to emergency. We got there in the nick of time, he was going into kidney failure! Naturally he now has to be on special prescription food. The Hill's c/d he doesn't like at all. The Royal Canin he tolerates but will hardly eat it. I always try to mix something else in but it's just a chore to get him to eat now and the poor guy is hungry. He does love Royal Canin's dry SO food and treats. What else can I feed him?
My dog has Kidney problem ( High BUN, CREA, PHOSPHORUS) i minimized he's protein intake and more vegetables in his diet, can i include boiled potato, pumpkin and fresh coconut juice and its meat as his treat? Thank you in advance
Hi! Tony has been eating wet/canned royal canin aging 12+ , he’s 18 years old , and I wanted an opinion on this food as far as senior diets go. My vet had me try rx veterinary hills g/d canned food but he didn’t like it. is the aging 12+ a good senior diet option for a food lower in phosphorus and sodium? Thx!
My dog is 11 he has a cyst that can’t be removed and he’s not eating unless I’m with him I added water to the kibble and he ate it he’s drinking excessively ?
