B vitamins and amino acids reinforce the skin barrier. Omega-3 fatty acids EPA & DHA help promote healthy skin and coat. Plus, an exclusive blend of fibers helps support digestive health.

  • - DOGS WITH FOOD SENSITIVITIES: Royal Canin Ultamino is a veterinary-exclusive adult dog food for adult dogs with food sensitivities needing a short-term elimination diet or long-term nutrition
  • - REDUCES SKIN REACTIONS: Clinically proven to help reduce skin reactions that may be due to sensitivities to common proteins found in adult dog foods
  • - BREAKS DOWN PROTEINS: Innovative vet formula minimizes the risk of reaction with proteins extensively broken down to a size that's virtually unrecognizable by the immune system
  • - SKIN SUPPORT: Specific nutrients reinforce the skin barrier and help support healthy skin in dogs with sensitive skin and skin irritations
  • - HEALTHY DIGESTION: An exclusive blend of fibers helps support digestive health

Great food for dogs with IBD

Kloe

After dealing with soft stools, vomiting, and eventually some very quick weight loss, our vet diagnosed our 3 year old Rottweiler with IBD and recommended this food. For the first time in our rotties life, she finally started having firm stools and gained all the weight back. She also seems much happier.

Poor quality control…again!

Lab25

“Quality Manufacturing” No way!! Come on, Royal Canin…get you act together on the production of this food. For the fifth time since 2021 and the second time in a month, I received a bag of this with huge solid clumps of food…some as large as paver bricks. I have to give this food to my dog because of food allergies and it has been a godsend, but now she has been sick the last two weeks and it makes me wonder if these poorly controlled bags are to blame. Given the amount of money this food costs and what’s at stake (the health of my dog!) we expect better!!

WARNING!!!!!!

Guhv

If I could give it 0 stars I would. This food made my complete healthy dog develop pancreatitis. My vet prescribed me this food to see if my dog had a food allergy because of skin/itchiness. The first day of feeding my dog this food he was excessively drinking water every 5 minutes which was very alarming to me. As weeks go by he’s starts excessively stretching. Comes to find out he has pancreatitis when he was completely healthy before starting this food. DONT feed your dog this food this is a WARNING. I will be posting about this food all over platforms to warn every single pet owner!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Solid block of food

Gretel Jerland Warren

My dog has allergies and the food was recommended by my vet; My dog likes it but when the bag was received it was virtually a solid block. I thought perhaps it froze in route. Nope. There were a few smaller clumps that I was able to break apart but I have 2 solid blocks, the size of a block of ice and cannot chip away at it - Prior bags were fine - this is the first time I have had this problem I have been told by Royal canin: 12/28/2024 Thank you for reaching out to Royal Canin and for sharing your concerns, I am so sorry to hear about this issue. Of course that this is not the quality that we wish for you and your fur baby Gretel to receive. Ultamino is a very “temperamental” product to produce, as the feather hydrolysate is an extremely fine powder that gums up the extruder very quickly. This can lead to variation in kibble size and a stickier kibble consistency, which can lead to kibble clumping. If the moisture level of the kibbles is too low, the kibble won't form properly and palatability goes down, if the moisture level is too high, the kibbles clump together more easily. The plant has been working on ways to minimize this, however it continues to be a challenging product to produce.  Unfortunately, since you do not have the original bag anymore we cannot replace the product nor register your complaint in our system. We do understand your concerns, but without the batch details which are found in the bag, we have no way to investigate or report your complaint.

Great product, manufact. quality control issues?

Lisa L

My dogs have bad allergies and have been on this -successfully - for a few years. The bag I received two months ago had some clumping of the kibble, very hard to break apart. Just received another bag from chewy.com and half of the kibble at the bottom is glued together and won’t break apart. There is a separate bread loaf sized brick that I’ve had some luck breaking apart, but with over half the bag’s kibble blued together and not breaking off, most of the bag is unusable. Not a cheap product, this seems like a major control issue. Very few options for hydrolized protein diet, am going to talk to my vet about other options…

Good at first

Robinspradlin

This was really good for our Frenchie. Stopped paw licking but after the 4th bag, my boy is extremely inflamed, yeast on his skin (which he never had) and secondary infection from itching so much. He is now back on apoquel too. I mean I was hoping to no longer need it as we didn’t after 3 weeks on this food. This food also has chicken in it which we believe to be a trigger for his allergies. Why would my vet prescribe the food in the first place?

Very good for my fussy Cavapoo puppies

Marianne M

My dogs have had a few health issues ever since they were puppies (they are now 2 and 3 years old) - allergies to poultry(recently discovered) and other things. They were scratching, eating grass and then vomiting white or yellow foam frequently. My vet recommended I try RC Ultamino. While it did have a distinctive smell my 2 cavapoos wolfed it down. The funny thing was the first time I tried to give it to them, mixed with their fresh food, they were reluctant to eat it. I was so frustrated that I just gave them the Ultamino alone, just to get this trial over once and for all. Instead they went right over to their bowls and ate. I was amazed! I had been using the RC low fat canned food for pancreatitis, which they ate but were not enthralled with... for this ultamino kibble they were spinning around, couldn't wait to eat.

Questions

My shih tzu has an excessive amount of tears and was seen by an ophthalmologist vet and received meds that did not work. It was then suggested to purchase royal canin ultamino food. Just wanted to know if the food would dry up his tears.

  1. That’s very interesting. Our dog has been on Ultamino for about three years for digestive issues. Recently he was diagnosed with chronic dry eye and is receiving medication for that. I don’t know if his dry eye is the result of his diet, but I will definitely be checking with his vet. Good luck with finding answers for your pup.
