Love this food for my 70 lb dog. The label reads great, and I am begging you to return it to active stock. Please don’t discontinue this exact formula.

Like the other reviews, our dog has severe food allergies and this is one of the only foods he can tolerate. We have spent over a year chasing any limited stock we can find at local vets or retailers online and ration the cans along with PR dog food. Officially out of any resources. I wish there was an answer for many loyal customers have grown dependent upon this food based on trusted vet/allergist recommendation only to have it become completely unavailable over time. I contacted Royal Canin in March of last year when this started and they said they were doing everything in their power to get it back. Its now 15 mos later and no change. Disappointed is an understatement.

Availability is highly problematic

I'm in the same boat as another recent review. Of the foods we've tried (and we've tried many), this is the only food my dog handles well. She has digestive issues and dismotility in her esophagus, and this is the only food she seems to keep down without problems. Not being able to count on, or have visibility into the availability of this product, makes it difficult to plan so we can keep our dog healthy.

Pretty Upset

My dog, a cocker spaniel, has been on this food for a while now. He has IBD and skin allergies. I am very upset with Royal Canin. The problem I had with them about 2 years ago with the PR Loaf canned was that they ran out of a reliable source of rabbit. So, I switched my dog to the PW. He did okay for a little while but ended up with his issues returning. After a lot of vet visits, time, money and my dog being sick on this food I found out the rabbit and potato was back, so I switched him back to the PR. He has been back on this food for about a 1 1/2 years and doing quite well and BAM again Royal Canin says the food is out of production for an unknown amount of time because they can not keep up with production. Now this is a problem! I went on line and to stores that carry Royal Canin. They had breed brand food but now they can't manage to produce food for sick dogs that are dependent on this food. Not sure what I'm going to do about this. Changing food is a big deal for dogs that suffer with these problems. Very disappointed and upset with Royal Canin for making poor choices and decisions. My ratings are based on the ethics of Royal Canin not the PR food. The PR formula is a great product but what good is it if you can't get it. And furthermore, my vet was not informed about the lack of production nor the unreliable source from anyone and figured it out eventually when they kept ordering food and were not getting it.

Good food, sub par delivery

The food is great, however Petco has had many issues in delivering my orders. The first time, it took them so long to process it that by the time it arrived I had already left the address I was at during vacation. When the replacement order arrived, over half of the cans were dented severely, and I'm afraid of making my dog sick if I give her these. Petco then sent another replacement order. They handled the situation very well, but it was quite frustrating. I would recommend just picking the food up in the store if you need it in a pinch.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Has the canned rabbit been discontinued?

  1. Not that I am aware of. But, it does go out of stock occasionally - I think this is at the manufacturer because it seems to go out of stock from multiple retailers at the same time.

What type of potato? Sweet potatoe or regular?

  1. The potatoes used are a white potato
