My female Rottweiler 5 years old came down with a severe case of kidney failure and required immediate attention and treatment from our Vet, kidney flush every other day along with specialty food....She sold us hills kibble along with cans for renal support which she refused to eat...One of the Tec's recommended Royal Canin which she loves and eats with relish...She shows all signs of becoming healthy again. Many thanks to Royal Canin products she seems to be getting well once again.

My Dog LOVES This Food

My small dog was diagnosed with heart disease and started taking meds that had an effect on her kidneys. As a precaution we started her on this food at the Vets suggestion. She's the only one of our 3 dogs on this food. She whines and cries while I'm plating the dog food for all of them, then she dances all the way to her eating spot, getting in a few spins and jumps along the way. As soon as I put it down she's devouring it. There are foods she won't eat but more along the lines of some vegetables. She loves dog food so good thing she's a dog.

1st dog food 15+ yr old shih tzu ever liked(?!

Crazy old shih tzu

I've had success with other RC kidney diets with dogs in the past, so I know it will take some time and monitoring to see how this one works. Bizarrely, my dog turns 16 this year and THIS seems to be the 1st dog food she's ever liked. This weirdo usually only eats every other day, but she's chowing it down every day. So much for all the homemade cooking and expensive brands I've given her in the past šŸ™ƒ

Yes, I recommend this product.

Amazing results with my Norwich Terrier

My 13 year old was diagnosed with chronic renal failure and was prescribed a special diet. We tired of another brand of food and she quickly tired of it and stopped eating. Royal Canin has been a god send. She took to the food immediately and is eating full meals. It’s now two weeks and we are so happy her weight is returning. We are also noticing more healthy and regular bowel movements.

Very disliked by multiple dogs

I personally have one dog with severe renal dysplasia and two other "normal" dogs. My renal dog will NOT eat this food and turns her nose up at it while she'll readily consume other RC renal foods dry and canned. My normal dogs will not eat this food either and when one did try a little spoonful on coaxing he vomited it up after only 5 minutes. In addition, clients dogs I have offered this to also do not readily consume it. RC should go back to making Canned "T" formula, one of their absolute best and most readily enjoyed by renal patients. Thankfully there are more choices out there across other companies now as renal dogs deserve variety which previously Royal Canin was notorious at and successfully provided.

Having decided on giving the best vet recommended

Rusty Boy

Going on 1 year of food change, and multiple health issues- my Shellie is doing unbelievably better than the Special Veterinary Dr. can believe! I used to use only a high quality kibble, no problems- however, with renal problems started and the new Royal Canine became so in demand; Mr. Rusty does not even let his dish get to his eating heights before he is jumping into his ā€œbest food.ā€ I use all of Royal Canine ( wet and dry- as I leave a dish of Kibble down for in between snacks).

Yes, I recommend this product.

My dog loves it!!

My Beagle mix is having kidney problems so my vet recommended Royal Canin Renal E. My dog LOVES it and she is normally very picky & sometimes doesn't have an appetite. My other dog who doesn't need a renal diet (my Bijon/Shitszu mix) also loves it so I give her a small teaspoon of it when I feed my other dog. To me, it kind of has a bit of a tuna scent. But they devour it!

Not enjoyed by dogs

We tried this canned food because the T was on backorder. It has the same texture, a ground up one that is moist and doesn't smell strongly but is a pleasing enough smell to a human nose. However, the three dogs I have tried it all have all rejected it. One of the dogs takes it in his mouth but immediately spits it out. He will then readily consume some of the other prescription diet canned foods of competitor lines or the Royal Canin T. One of the other dogs vomited after consuming it. This is the first product I have been unhappy with that I have ordered from Royal Canin.

Questions

1 - 1 of 1 Questions

How long will this wet food last in the refrigerator ? My little ShihTzu only can eat about 1/4 can a day and it’s so expensive I don’t want to throw it out if it’s still good.

  1. Once a can is opened we recommend any unused portion be stored in the fridge for 48-72 hours
