Description

Please note that the product information displayed is provided by manufacturers, suppliers and other third parties and is not independently verified by Petco.

Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein Small Dog is made with hydrolyzed soy proteins to reduce the risk of triggering an immune reaction in your small breed dog. Optimal amounts of B vitamins and amino acids reinforce the skin barrier. Relative Supersaturation (RSS) methodology helps reduce stone formation in the bladder. Plus, the special dog kibble supports oral care.

  • - DOGS WITH FOOD SENSITIVITIES: Veterinary-exclusive dry dog food made with hydrolyzed protein for adult dogs under 22 lb with food sensitivities
  • - SKIN & GI SUPPORT: Helps reduce skin reactions and GI health issues that may be a result of sensitivities to common proteins found in pet foods
  • - MINIMIZES RISK OF REACTIONS: Proteins are broken down to a size that's less likely to be recognized by the immune system
  • - URINARY SUPPORT: Supports urinary tract health by promoting a urinary environment unfavorable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals
  • - HEALTHY TEETH: Helps support dental care with kibbles that are a specific shape, dimension and texture to fit the jaws of small dogs, and also promote a brushing effect while chewing

Don't expect to have a consistent supply available

Tonys dog

We love (d) the food and so did our dog. However, the Vet is out of this food as well as all retailers that can sell based on the need for a prescription. I contacted the company and was told they have no date for availability - no date at all. This is a major supply issue as ALL retailers/ Vets are out. As you know, changing your pet's food can be an issue. How does a company allow this to happen? We now have to change foods to feed our dog and cannot go through changes again. Sorry - You probably lost a loyal customer.

MAKE A BIGGER BAG THAN 8 pounds

Cayce

My rescued Bichon has about 15 different food allergies. With this food plus oral medication she has had improvement. My reason for 3 stars is I wish I could buy the small dog in a bag bigger than 8 pounds as it would be a lot cheaper. I have bought the big bag (over 20 pounds- not identified for small dogs) to see how big the kibble is and it is huge compared to other dog foods that you can buy in the bigger quantity.

Not a healthy food

Our vet recommended this food for my older dog who had elevated liver enzymes. She grew weak. The vitamins in this food are synthetic. I switched my dog to a vegetarian diet and she is now playful and energetic.

My dog has food and environmental allergies causing red itchy rashes over entire body that she can't stop scratching all day and all night. We have finished the first 8 pound bag and the rashes are healing and she is scratching less, however the stool is loose and mucusy, not sure if we are going to continue with this food, plan to call our vet to discuss.

Yes, I recommend this product.

It is impossible to find commercial dog food that does not contain chicken. Since my dogs have been eating Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein food, they are comfortable and their coats much improved.

When your vet prescribes Royal Canin HP Protein for your dog, you buy it. There are not very many other options on the market.

Yes, I recommend this product.

The hydrolyzed form of Royal Canin for small dogs is good for puppies, too. According to my vet, it helps prevent those dark spots under your dog’s eyes.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Do you consider 30 pounds a small dog? You do not carry Royal Canin HP in a smaller bag. I would like to buy a smaller bag in case my dog doesn't like it or has a reaction to it. Is your small dog food bag good for my 30 pound dog?

Our Westie is on Hydrolyzed protein dry dog food. I read where one person said her dog quit getting the black kook in her eyes. Ours had that too but now it is better. Is this because of the dog food? Thanks

Can this be used to wean a litter of puppies? Mother is on Ultamino and Hydrolyzed canned food.

Our vet and the Vet School in Pullman WA has said our dog needs to eat hydrolized protein. We are using Royal Canin veterinary diet. He is slow to eat, needs appetite stimulant at times. Can something make it more palatable, are there safe treats?

        1. We recommend to speak to your veterinarian about the Hydrolyzed Protein Treats

My dog is allergic to rice. This contains brewer's rice. What is the difference between rice and brewer's rice? Can my dog have this?

        1. Brewers rice is broken grain of rice, so if your pet has an allergy, we'd recommend to speak to your veterinarian about the Hydrolyzed Protein PS (potato and soy)

Is this food good for dogs skin and coat?

        1. Have not noticed any change in skin or coat.  Our little buddy seems to like the food and has been easier on his tummy.
