Puppy is regaining his life after serious illness

keiltagh

My nearly six months old Shiloh Shepherd puopy came home with this food after having a massive intussusception that resulted in bleeding and necrotic bowel that has to be resected (and a prophylactic gastropexy while they were in there, he is expected to be 110-120). He had the have the surgery done after his body rejected the stitches and he went into septic shock. The bacteria cultured included an antibiotic resistant form of e coli. Needless to say he was in such bad shape. In the ends his odds of survival were in the single digits. He was so underweight by the Tim he got back home for good, and the vet wanted him on your puppy hydrolysed protein formula. I have to say, he has THRIVED. He had so much inflammation (cause still tbd) and hasn't had normal stools in almost 6 weeks. After 8 days on this food he's gaining weight, his personality is returning, his coat, which looked good before, is even softer and shinier and thicker. And his still is getting better day by day. It may always be a struggle since he now has short gut syndrome from the surgery, but it's never been this close to "normal". All of this despite losing almost his entire ileum, where many nutrients are absorbed. He's still behind, but it's only been just over a week and he's gained back over six pounds. All dogs are different, and we still don't know if it was a food sensitivity or something else, but he has definitely been doing wonderfully.

I've been using this all month for my dog. And his bowel movements have gotten so much better. He was having diarrhea constantly since birth and now he's had solid poops. I wish it wasn't so expensive.

Good food, but needs a little more flavor added. Major complaint is cheap zippers that always break. Please!!, make them stronger to help maintain quality & freshness.
