Terrible kibble since changing

CKKC

We received our 2nd large bag of hydrolyzed kibble and the formulation has changed. My dog refuses to eat it and is now having a relapse of his IBD symptoms. He did so well with the 1st bag with improved symptoms. When we got the second bag the kibble was darker with a different texture. I am so disappointed with Royal Canin's decision to change it without informing their clients, many of who depend on this food to maintain their pet's health. We will look for a different brand from now on. Shame on Royal canin!!

Royal Canin - great food

Great food for my dog, expensive but does the job. Out of all the hydrolyzed dog foods out there, this smells the best, seems to do the best job and my dog loves it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Beware - has chicken in it

Tomm

Omg. We tried this for our 15 year old Brittany Spaniel as she did not want to eat the PR anymore. I wish I had read the ingredients before feeding it to her. Chicken is known as the #1 worst food for dogs with IBD and she gobbled this food down, followed by 2 days of severe diarrhea. Why would they put chicken in something for dogs with sensitive stomachs? Beware.

Never Again Royal Canin

My dog has been on Royal Canin HP for 10 years. He has severe food sensitivities. Ever since receiving the last few bags, all of a sudden he won’t eat the food and when he does he always vomits later. This is a ridiculous move on the part of Royal Canin. I can definitely see the difference in the kibble and the dog noticed it before I did. This is a huge problem because this dog can’t eat anything else. Back to the drawing board - never again Royal Canin

Constant diarrhea

Mydogsadvocate

My dog has been on a prescription diet of only this for the past 6 weeks. He has suffered diarrhea throughout this trial, even with two full courses of Proviable to calm his digestive system. The vet asked us to stay the course until we do follow up bloodwork. Our follow up with the vet is this Friday, and I hope they will change the diet to something else. This was our first prescription diet in an attempt to calm his system and start to identify food allergies. This food is beyond disappointing.

Questions

For this product do we need a vet prescription to buy it or are you guys in charge of calling my dog's vet clinic for permission to this product Or do you prefer a prescription that my dog' doctor prescribe it?

  1. You have to have a prescription to purchase this item.  If you have a hard copy you can provide during purchase process.  Otherwise Petco can reach out to your vet to verify your pet has been prescribed this product.

My dogs are used to a dry food topped w/boiled chicken & carrots or sardines or eggs. Meds in peanut butter. What can I give them in addition to the hp dry food?  They’re confused by plain dry food.

  1. My shepherd has similar experience. Hard boiled eggs and cheese on kibble and meds with peanut butter. Now I use the canned Royal Canin HP to give my shepherd her meds. I mush the pill into a ball of the canned food. Plus I put some of the canned in with her kibble. She has adapted to the change and seems OK with the new diet.

Looking everywhere and can't find any store with this in stock. I'm running low. I was able to order a bag (small) however it is also a week out and will still take time to get to me. In the future, is there ANY alternative to this food? dry or wet? Thanx

  1. Unfortunately, I don’t know. My Labrador mixed German Shepherd was very itchy so my Vet recommended this formula and it did make a big positive difference! I think the best person to answer your question is your dog’s vet. Sorry, I couldn’t help you better

what is the main protein?

  1. Hydrolyzed soy and chicken

How many cups of food are in a 25 lb bag of HP dog food

  1. There are approximately 133 cups per bag
