My dog was diagnosed with mild pancreatitis was given meds and some of the Royal Canin gastrointestinal food to help her tummy heal. Coming home from vet she was almost 100% again. Then I fed her some RC gastrointestinal food. She got so sick and lethargic with fever. We rushed her to hospital. And they mentioned countless dogs have gotten sick from this food-

New formula made my dog SO sick

My dog has been on this food since 2016. He has an extremely sensitive stomach (pancreatitis) and had really done well on this food until recently, when I noticed the consistency of the loaf food looked different. About a month ago, he started refusing to eat it and having constant diarrhea (waking me up in the middle of the night to get sick). We switched him to the Hills I.d. Food and his symptoms had completely cleared. Unfortunately, my husband didn’t realize we had one can left of this food and accidentally fed it to him yesterday. He’s had diarrhea for the past 12 hours, refuses to eat and looks absolutely miserable. Do not buy this for your dog.

We have fed this to our pup for a very long time now. She has not had a pancreatitis flare up since we started feeding it. Some batches are wetter than others, I prefer the wetter batches.

My dog has been on this food due to GI issues. Been on it a month and loves it. Used to have to switch her food often due to pickiness but she loves this stuff.

I’m so mad. Our senior dog has uncontrolled diarrhea. After many vet visits, new meds, and perplexing us and his vet—- I’m reading this!! You CHANGED the formula!!!! I’ve had months of cleaning up crap. This is unacceptable. I was okay spending SO much money on dog food but to find out he was sick because of this new formula makes me irate!

Hey RC: RECALL Gastrointestional Low Fat food!

TheoGirl

A few weeks ago my get had me change our gog from Regular Gastrointestional canned and dry to the Gastrointestional LOW FAT version. I have been using up the regular mixing it in with this until about five days ago when it’s been strictly low fat version. Three days ago he started in with gas and diarrhea. Last night he had us up all night pacing around and wanting to go out. The vet wanted him on low fat because he has been having pancreatitis symptoms but now what? I’m about to spend another hundred bucks plus testing tomorrow to see what’s going on, but I think I know the answer. After all of these reviews, Royal Canine,, why are you not recalling this food?

My vet put my 64.5 lb female Greyhound on the Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Low Fat loaf today, the 13.6 ounce can size. I can't find a chart to tell me how much to give her daily. She is low activity. Could somebody help me please?

  1. My 20 lb dog is on the Royal Canin Gastrointestinal low-fat  diet. She is also low activity. I give her 1/2 c Royal Canin dry + ~2T wet twice a day. She does have a digestive issue and takes a very low dose of prednisone both of which affect her metabolism and appetite. She has sustained this for 3 years.

How much to feed for a 20 lb Westie???

  1. I have used this food ever since my 8lb Chihuahua accidentally ate ant bait.  Thankfully he survived,  but as a result has pancreatic issues.  He has to have a pretty bland diet.  He gobbles this stuff up!  I feed him about 2 heaping tablespoons in the morning and 1 at night with dry food.  Id double that for your fur baby.  Hope the RC works for your fur baby!!
