Sr. cat with stage 2 renal failure. She struggles with constipation, inadequate water drinking, arthritis, toothless, cataracts, and deafnesss. She is on Royal Canin kidney recipe as the most tolerable of choices to-date (really didn't care for Hill Science version). Have been mixing with fancy feast kitty or adult pate, laxative and Cosequin. Recently found Delectables bisques to add instead of fancy feast. She seems to like well & I can add water, upping her intake. Ash content concern.
Hi I was speaking with one of your vets before about senior diet cat foods that are less stressful on the kidneys. Suggestions were purina pro plan 11+, hills science 11+ & royal canin aging 12+, all canned. He wasn't crazy about these but seems to like hills science diet mature 7+ savory chicken minced canned entree. It says its also lower in phosphorus but would love someone's opinion or experience with this food. Thx!!
What is the best dry and wet food for cats with & kidney health issues?
Is Purina Proplan wet food ok for my cat, he has stage 2 kidney disease and pancreatitis?
What should I look for in selecting a wet food for a kitty with Stage 2 kidney disease?
Best low-carb wet food for cats?
My 15 year old cat has stage 2 kidney disease. She shows no changes in her personality or daily habits. She will not eat any of the renal wet prescription diet food that our vet has suggested. What would be the best brand of store shelf wet food for her? I have been reading labels for high protein and moisture, good Omega 3, low phosphorus and alot of brands seem to be about the same. She is a fussy eater.
My cat usually gets fed royal canin prescription for renal support. My local petsmart is out of that one. Can i feed her hills science prescription kidney care in its place?
My cat was diagnosed with kidney failure and has gastrointestinal problems. We are trying to change the diet to one that would be fitting, such as Renal both wet and dry from Royal Canine and Gastrointestinal from Royal Canine, these are the only foods available in my area for these two diseases. But my cat doesn't want to eat at all. Would it be possible to add to his diet a bit of chicken meat at least once a day or mixed with the wet food?
Hello could you help me to better understand which of these 3 canned cat foods has the lesser amount of phosphorus from the percentages I was given: Purina pro plan 11+ has 0.35% phosphorus; royal canin aging 12+ has 0.125% phosphorus; hills science diet 11+ has 0.6% phosphorus. These foods were suggested in a previous question I submitted here for my elderly cat I'm just not sure which has the least amount of phosphorus for his aging kidneys. Thank you
Trying to get my elder cat to eat a senior diet lower in phosphorus for less stress on kidneys!Tried royal canin aging 12+, hills science 7+& 11+, Purina pro plan 11+..he really doesn't like any of them. The one he likes most is the pro plan but it has the most phosphorus of them all at 1.54% dry matter. any other suggestions?I've tried some senior rx diets too that he won't stick with. I know any food is best for his kidneys of course than no food but I just want to get him on a proper food. Thx
