My dog is allergic to Royal Canin

Sanchez

I switched from Proplan to Royal Canin based on a friend's recommendation who just so happens to be a retired veterinarian. First off, my dog is and Irish setter not a golden but my vet friend said theyre such similar breeds, this food should be ok. Well, I began my mixing it with the Proplan so as to make such a drastic change. After about 3 weeks she was just on straight Royal Canin. After a couple or three weeks she started scratching and licking parts of her body. The only change was in the dog food. I'm very sad for my dog that because i took someone's advice when she was just fine on her Proplan and now I have a very miserable dog. Going back to Proplan. The corn and chicken i think are the culprits.

Too Expensive Now / Better Options out there

I’ve been using this for 4 years as my dog is almost 5, and we recently switched to Hills Diet large breed due to chicken being the first ingredient and this is getting so expensive compared to when we first bought it. I see and feel the difference in his fur, and his energy levels. Honestly upset I didn’t switch sooner.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Picky eater finally picks

Our golden Griswold is turning 4 and we finally found a food he loves. We tried all of the [purina brand foods with no luck. Dabbled in whole hearted brands with toppers, still not quite exciting for him. However, once getting a bag of royal canin, he is eager for dinner time, and has no problem finishing his meals when at home. Or when we are on camping trips. Thank you for a wonderful product! His coat is well maintained and we have had no allergy problems since moving to this food. 10/10

Yes, I recommend this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had an excellent experience with Royal Canin Breed Health Nutrition Golden Retriever Adult Dry Dog Food. My Golden Retriever absolutely loves the taste, and I appreciate that this product is specifically formulated for her breed. The specialized kibble shape and texture seem to make it easier for her to eat and enjoy her meals. I also value the specific nutrients included to support her overall health and well-being. I would definitely recommend this product to other Golden Retriever parents and plan to purchase it again in the future.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While my dog willingly ate this food and seemed to like the large pieces I was very disappointed when I read the ingredients. This food is quite pricey and yet the first ingredient is corn and the second is chicken by product. I looked up what that is and you definitely don’t want to feed it to your dog. Also once I sent the ingredient list to my vet he said to discontinue feeding it to her. As it has very little actual nutritional benefit. So I was expecting more from this company and am very disappointed by this experience.
