My dog has been on a grain free soy free and chicken free food for about 8 months, He is 3 and has been gaining weight. He eats about 1/2 can of food twice a day and maybe a handful of dry food in between. He is never been a very active dog. He is part beagle and part chihuahua. My 10 yr old lab lost 6 lbs when taken off dry food. He gets homecooked. Alternating between lean ground beef, turkey, white meat chicken. Veggies Sweet potatoes, yellow squash, green beans. He was a perfect weight. Elimating 1 cup of dry food per day added to homecooked was meant to be a healthy choice not for weight loss. Vet wants him to put the weight back. My Quintino is diabetic. I feed him Royal Canin Glycobalance, which is perscribed by his Vet. I feed him the wet food now because the nuggets made him vomit a lot. My question is, how much can I feed him of the wet food? I'm suppose to give him 1/3 of a cup. I give him more than that but he's always hungry. I can feel his entire spine. Is that normal? I am putting my cat on a diet to shed a few pounds (he is around 18lbs right now). I am going to give him "Hill's Science Diet Adult Perfect Weight" canned wet food. My question is, how much of the canned wet food should I give him per day? Half a can in the morning and then the other half in the evening? These are 2.9-oz cans. I want to do what's best for him.
