milk thistle capsules for dogs
Pros: my picky dog does not seem to mind it in her food. It's conveniently packaged in capsules that I can open and sprinkle easily onto her food. I have heard good things about milk thistle for liver support in humans and in animals so was curious to see how this supplement would work
Cons: Inside of bottle seems to be covered in dust of the supplement itself so the gelatin capsules are a little dusty. Not sure if perhaps some of the capsules opened in transport. Also, I can't say I've noticed a difference in my dog after using the supplement consistently. Perhaps something I will try again when she is older.

Received this product in exchange for a review. Great product so far. My dog who had liver shunt repaired always worries me she will get another shunt so I am always looking for ways to protect her liver. So far I have no proof it’s working, but she is taking the product with success.

Great product for dog health
I am always interested in finding supplements to keep my dogs healthy and to prevent future illnesses. I was interested to try the Rooted Owl brand liver support.
The directions are very clear on the packaging and the bottle is easy to open (so I make sure to keep it in a safe spot out of reach). I am happy to be able to give my dogs a product that I know will help improve their long-term liver health. I do like the size of the capsule but it would be ideal if these were in a treat form instead because my picky dog wouldn’t take them.

Liver support
Adding a liver suppost, milk thistle to my 6 year old Great Danes routine seemed beneficial. my Great Dane has started to show her age and seemed to have inflammation. The active ingredient in the liver support supplement is called Silymarin which appears to function by fighting off toxins that try to bind to the liver. So far my girl takes this fine hidden in some cheese. The smell is a little strong but she doesn’t seem to mind. Prob because of the cheese though! Also when I opened the bottle it was very powdery almost like some leaked on the bottle. I haven’t noticed a big difference yet as she’s only take this for a week.

Milk Thistle Liver Supplement for Dogs
I gave my 2 dogs the Milk Thistle supplements for 1 week per the instructions on the back - 1 dog 25lbs @1 capsule per day & 1 dog 60lbs @2 capsules per day. The bottle is almost gone given the amount in the bottle and the recommended dosages. Also when you open the bottle there is the dust inside of the bottle that im assuming was inside of the capsules at some point. The smell was also really strong from the bottle and even the dogs were not really interested in the smell. I did not see any real changes in the dogs after taking the capsules, other than they began having loose stools. Not really a positive in my opinion. Given that these an actual pill it was quite an ordeal to get the dogs to take the pill. Prefer that things like this are in more of a treat form where it is easier for the dogs to accept. Overall I think I would pass on this product.

Works great! He has more energy!
Lucky has been on several different long-term medications for chronic, severe IBD, and was in need of a good liver detox. The Rooted Owl liver support is a quality product. Milk thistle can be given to cats as well as dogs. He actually likes the way it smells so it wasn’t a fight to get him to take it. Amount was adjusted for size, as he is smaller than a small dog. Works great!

I like how the package came. I like how its vegan and all natural ingredients. I noticed her pee isn't very yellow. She drinks more water. She able to hold her pee and helps prevent urinary infections.

Great supplement for liver health!
So far so good! Started my senior dog on this supplement a few weeks ago and have been happy with the results so far. The capsules are a manageable size & she doesn't seem to mind taking them. Planning to continue this supplement moving forward!
