The Richell Cat Safety Gate gives cat parents peace of mind by keeping cats safe and sound in whatever space you need to contain them. This 70" extra tall Cat Safety Gate is designed to fit common dimensions of hallways or doors. The gate is tension mounted, designed to fit openings that are 28" - 37.5" wide, and is made with durability in mind (all-steel construction). Each pole is rounded and has a narrow gap to keep cats from climbing, jumping over, or squeezing through the gate. The door opens one way to prevent cats from escaping the interior if left unlocked. Turn the PAW shaped lock to open and close the door. A block plate is located on the reverse side of the lock to protect from any curious paws looking to open the door. Gate includes rubber feet to protect floor surfaces from scratches. Recommended for cats up to 11 lbs. and total 4 additional safety bar to fit up to 37.5" wide.

Best ever walk through pet gate

A little pricey but worth every penny! I have two cats that I need to keep separate from all my others and previously had rigged up a not so tall walk through pet gate plus some hardware cloth and another baby gate from the top of the door frame to keep my Houdini cat from getting out. I wish I would have found this item years ago! I would prefer the door to open the other way but it's all good! Took a little bit of time to put it together but totally pleased. One of the door frame panels rivets had come off so one of the plates isn't totally connected but I was still able to assemble it and set it up. I may just super glue or use some clear duct tape to make sure the pieces stay together.

Only really viable gate for cats

I use this to separate my foster kitties from my owned cat. Although it is expensive, I agree that there is currently nothing else comparable on the market. The height, sturdiness, and narrow spacing between bars make this the only real option if trying to contain crafty cats with the ability to jump.

This was the single best purchase I made for my foster kitties! Yes, it’s expensive, but you get what you pay for. This gate is perfect for keeping cat colonies separated if you foster or need to make slow introductions. Nothing on the market compares to its design or quality. There are a lot of parts, so I had someone with mechanical skills assemble and install it.

Can it be painted maybe with a Rustoleum product?
- The frame for the gate is metal, but the bars are plastic coated? One of my adopted cats loves to gnaw on the bars, so I wouldn't paint mine. He has gnawed all of my chairs with spindles, too, so that finish is chewed! He spent his first two years in shelters, so he'll need time to play safely and calm down, getting better every day.

Will this fit a 42 inch wide doorway?
Is it true, that if the gate does not work, it is NOT returnable? I understand it is returnable if damaged, but otherwise, if I buy it, I cannot take it back to Petco nor return it to the original seller?
Can it ship already together. I can't do it I have health issues
- I don't think they can ship pre-assembled. I hired a local handy man and it took him about an hour to install it. He was $65 an hour. The product is great and has really helped me give my older cat some peace from the younger playful one.

Can this fit in a doorway that already has a door in it. So that both the door and the gate are functional at the same time?
- If the molding on the side that you’ll put the gate is deep enough. You’ll want about 3 inches of molding for the gate’s pressure mounting feet to comfortably fit.

What is the width of the opening for people to pass through?
- the actual width of the door opening is 22". that is with the door off which I do but keep the 'frame' intact. door removes by lifting it off of it's bottom pin. If the door is in place, I would say opening for people is 2" narrower or around 20" It is very easy to remove the whole unit by loosening only one side of the frame. Very easy to re-install when needed. This is a very excellent product, heavy and secure. would buy again, it suits my needs to separate my 26 cats. would work well with dogs too I think.

What is the spacing between the bars?
- 1-3/8” to 1-1/2”. My skinny Houdini cat can squeeze through the Carlson pet gates but not this one. However, the bars do have a little give since they’re only attached at the top and bottom of the door. I think it needs a horizontal bar in the middle but it’s so much better than stacking 2 baby gates on top of each other.

Does it support 32" wide doorway? Also will that with or without extension?
- Yes it would. It cimes with the extra bars to cover the 32 inches. I’ve been really happy with this gate. It keeps my cats out of one of my rioms and it opens so smoothly.
