Rep-Cal Ultrafine (fine grind) is an excellent source of calcium for all reptiles and amphibians. Scientifically formulated from human grade 100% natural Oyster Shell phosphorus-free calcium carbonate with added Vitamin D3 to aid in the absorption of calcium. Calcium deficiency is a major dietary problem of captive reptiles and amphibians. Maintaining a proper calcium:phosphorus (Ca:P) ratio in the diet of 1.5:1 is believed to be just as important nutritionally as an adequate Ca intake. The problem in most cases is an improper Ca:P ratio, not too little Ca. Ca:P ratios of common cultured food items are shockingly poor: Crickets 0.13:1, Meal Worms 0.06:1, Wax Worms 0.08:1, Pinky Mice 0.89:1. Using a calcium supplement that also adds phosphorus makes no sense as an adequate Ca:P ratio can never be achieved. Rep-Cal contains only 100% Natural human grade phosphorus-free oyster shell Calcium Carbonate for its calcium source.

My hermit crab is molting and I read that he needs vitamins and calcium. Is this good to give him?
- I know this is good for reptiles, but I believe there's a different blend for crabs. Might want to call customer service.

Hi, I've been giving my dog a homemade diet since he was diagnosed with kidney disease and supplemented it with a little eggshell powder which acted as his calcium. The vet has now given a phosphate binder called ipakitine and in the ingredients it says it contains calcium carbonate. Do I stop giving the eggshell powder now as this ipakitine contains calcium? Thanks

My very senior cat with kidney disease is eating Hills Precription k/d. Her recent bloods came back normal and her kidney levels are good, however she is developing arthritis in her left hind leg. Can I gv her green lipped mussel powder as a suppliment considering protein n phosphate levels should be kept low?
2 yr German Shepherd had been eating Hills Science Diet for the last week and a half or so... now seems lethargic, turns away from the wet food so he knows it's bad, stools are normal but softer. Hello. My cat is at about stage 3 renal failure. Her phosphorus level is quite high. Have repeatedly tried renal foods but very difficult to get her to eat it. I have read that aluminium hydroxide, Alu-Cap brand name, can be quite effective at lowering phosphorus levels. Do you have any first hand knowledge of this please? Thanks very much for your time.
My 3 year old 23lb. male corgi has a history of developing cystine crystals in his urinary tract and was put on Hill's U/D canned food as a result. I have been reading online about alkaline diets and was wondering if we could prepare food for him at home that would be sufficient in preventing the formation of the cystine crystals. What is the proper calcium to phosphorous ratio when feeding a large breed puppy or dog? Ive read that it should be 1:1, Ive read it should be 1.2:1, and Ive read it should be between 1:1 and 2:1. Our 1 1/2 year old female ragdoll feline started loosing patches of fur for last 2 weeks. No scabs/raw spots on skin. Vetinarian concludes not fleas or ringworm. No known environmental changes or new house products. Now starting Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein Adult HP for 2-3 weeks in case it's food allergies. It's $50 for 7.7 lbs.
