Red Velvet Cauliflower Swordtails are a beautiful, easy to care for, vibrant and hardy option for the beginner hobbyist. The male swordtail has a showy extension on their caudal tail that resembles a sword (hence the name). The females are lacking the sword and are commonly mistaken for Mollies. They are peaceful fish that will do great in community tanks. Males can be territorial and aggressive towards other males, so there should only be one per aquarium. Be aware that these are livebearers so when adding females and males that you can end up with more than when you started. They are omnivores and will eat just about anything you offer including flakes, pellets and frozen foods.

ACCLIMATION: Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. For new aquariums, adding new fish slowly helps to properly develop the nitrogen cycle, which creates a safe environment for your aquatic pets. A bacteria booster may also help develop a new aquarium for your new fish. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried, and frozen food, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller, unfiltered aquariums.

I got a red barb a couple months ago and I thought it was just a little bit deformed. But today I looked at the fish and it has a white thing that came out of its skin where I thought its body was the most crooked. So I would like to know maybe what the white thing is and if I should put the fish in quarantine.
