Red Valentine Discus
Description
The Red Valentine Discus are one of the most stunning and rewarding species to keep in a freshwater aquarium. Their red and orange colorations, graceful movements, and complex social behaviors make them a centerpiece of any tank. Discus is a more difficult species to keep due to their sensitivity to water quality, so maintaining pristine conditions is crucial. Regular water changes of 25-50% weekly is recommended to keep ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels in check. A well-established biological filtration system is essential. Provide a well-planted aquarium with driftwood, tall plants, and open swimming areas. The tank should mimic their natural habitat with subdued lighting and soft, acidic water. For continued health provide a varied diet of black worms, blood worms and discus pellets. Suitable tankmates include other peaceful, slow-moving species that thrive in warm, soft water. Avoid fast or aggressive species that might outcompete Discus for food or cause stress.
