Tangs are commonly referred to as surgeon fish due to having a sharp spine that looks like a "scalpel" at the base of their (tail) fin that is used for protection. Like other tangs, these can be aggressive towards other fish that look similar. However, fish from the genus Zebrasoma are more likely to tolerate other tangs from this genus if their aquarium is large enough and they are all added to the aquarium at the same time. They should be peaceful towards most other tank mates. The Purple Tang can grow up to 10" in size, so they will need substantial swimming room. Full grown adults of this tang will need around 150 gallons; however, you can get away with smaller aquariums when they are juveniles. They are found in the Western Indian Ocean from the Red Sea to the Persian Gulf. Easy to see how this tang got its name due to their vibrant purple coloration, which stands out more thanks to their vibrant yellow caudal tail.

ACCLIMATION: Avoid exposing new aquatic life to bright lights after opening the box. Turn off aquarium lights prior to floating aquatic life. Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. A bacteria booster addition can assist with the addition of new aquatic life. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe for the addition of new aquatic life. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried and frozen foods, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller aquariums.
If we need to contact you for any reason about your order, shipping of your package may be affected. Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email with your order summary. Orders are subject to verification of payment information by phone or email.

I have 2 salmenese tiger fish and two smaller fish in approximately 3.5 L bowl. I bought them on 1 April. 3 act normal but one act abnormal from first day. One salmenese tiger fish doesn't move much first it stayed at bottom now it's gapping at surface and if I try to catch to check it it goes down again. It's fins are turning red or I don't know if it already was. I don't understand how to help. Parents are out town so I can't go to shop. I am not sure if all are eating food.
