I've had the hooded version for several years and even though I try and keep it washed out and changed regularly. I have noticed that the cat's urine has started to leave a crusty residue on the green screen tray and washing it only has gotten me so far and it has steadily progressed in the years we have used the system despite my scrubbing. the rest of the hood and trays are in great shape BUT nowhere does it seem that I can purchase just a replacement green tray. This seems SUPER wasteful.

My elderly cat was missing the litter box. She transitioned to this instantly. No break in period. No touch swap for pee pad. Very little tracking. Easy to return pellets to box. Pellets dry out quickly.

biggest problem is when my cat pees, the pee just leaks out of the sides of the box and i’m constantly cleaning pee off the floor and off the box rather than changing the pads.

The system is light, but awkward to carry. The litter is pricey, too. I'm glad that there are other, cheaper choices for it out there. What i do like about it is, that you can pull out the drawer to change the sheet

We have tried all kinds of liter boxes and litter. Previously, we really liked the Arm & Hammer Clumping litter but HATED litter everywhere in our house. We took the chance with this XL litter box amd as soon as I put it together my oldest cat (most stubborn) walked right in and within 2 seconds started peeing. Right after he used it, he was prepared to scrape his paws because he was so used to the sand-like litter and was presently surprised that it wasn't necessary anymore, due to the pellets not being stuck between his paws. Zero mess outside of the litter box also. He was brushing up against my legs like crazy after. I love that there is no top, for easier cleaning and my cats also love it. It's huge! It is pricey to get the box but so cheap after that. So far, we are so impressed!! Best litter box & litter we've used and we've had cats 10+ years.

I had wanted to switch to this box away from traditional boxes because of smell, tracked clay littler, and ease of upkeep. I got the system knowing that my cat is...stubborn. But, with Tidy Cat's money guarantee I took the leap knowing that it would take time to fully switch.
My cat never fully embraced the box, even after following the correct steps, she'd choose the stinky old box after months of not cleaning (part of the switching instructions). Even with a fully clean breeze box, I decided to give up on it after she started going elsewhere in the house.
I just went to check about a refund, and per the tidy cats/purina website, I need the original barcode number (among other things) which is of course gone in the recycling months ago. It is also a mail in request which is archaic in this age and meant to keep people from actually getting it. I'm assuming a petco refund is also out of the question this far out and partially used.
My suggestion is to keep everything needed for the Purina refund, and know your cat's temperament going into this process.
No, I do not recommend this product.

How much pellets do you use in the XL box? I have the regular size breeze box and use 3.5 lbs per month. Can I get away with using 3.5 lbs per month in this larger box? Will 3.5 lbs of pellets cover the small openings at the bottom of the XL box?

Is the bottom part (the part where the tray slides in) watertight? Or, in other words, if I take the tray out is that bottom part solid under the tray?
- No it is not. The tray serves as the bottom. It sits on an extended piece of the litter container. I have found that the liner and the tray are the key to the integrity of the bottom.

If I buy from Petco and say after a few weeks my cat isn't taking to this system what is the return policy - can I return to the store where I bought it from and get my money back?
- I doubt it. For sanitary reasons the product couldn't be resold once used.

- It depends on whether you get the regular or extra large size. The regular size is about the same size as an ordinary cat box.

It looks like the Pee Pad doesn't cover the entire pellet bed. What happens when the cat pees near the entrance?
- If you will notice the bottom of the unit is sloped going down to the grid. This is so the urine drains down to the grid portion where it goes through down to the pad. When mine was new I was wondering if it would work. But now that I've had it for a while, trust me, it works just fine.

Thinking about getting this system and would like to know how to transition from regular cat litter to pellets and approx time frame for doing so. Regular cat litter has become tremendously messy and looking for a better option.
