Completely changed product and shrinkflation

Similar to the many, many, recent reviews on this page, this was an amazing product until Purina prioritized profit over pet health and changed it. My cats used to love it. It got one through multiple health issues in the last year, and now I'm lucky if he'll touch it even when mixed with something else. It went from a dark, smooth, fragrant gravy to a light, thick, scentless goop. Purina's response to this claim (after months of denying that the product had changed at all) is that "while the ingredients remain the same, the order has been slightly realigned and some sourcing has changed, which may affect texture, color, and scent", AKA a completely different products for our cats, who have clearly noticed. The decrease in ounces per packet was obvious but something I was willing to overlook given how much my cats loved it and the benefits of additional hydration it brought. The decrease in quality and palatability, however, I cannot. It is a useless supplement if cats won't consume it. This is no longer a product I recommend to clients. I hope that Purina will take the concerns of their consumers and their advocates seriously enough to revert this product back to its original form, for the sake of our pets and patients rather than for company gain. At one time, Hydracare was priceless. Now it is wasted.

Please bring back the old formula!

We’ve been using Hydra Care every day for two years, and my cat loved it, but after the recent formula change, he developed diarrhea right away. Nothing else in his diet or routine has changed, so it’s clear this new version doesn’t agree with him. Please consider reviewing the recent changes — consistency is really important especially in pet food/ supplements. I really hope Purina can address this issue.

Four paws up!

Toffee

Our 18-year-old, 5 1/2 pound Balinese Toffee is being treated for high blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, excess sinus mucous, and stage 2 kidney disease. He absolutely has his issues, so anything we can get him to eat or drink is crucial to his well-being. He LOVES Hydra Care, and he will choose that over treats. I give him half a pouch, which he will finish within 20 minutes. I give him the rest about an hour later, and he will finish that within the next hour.

New formula- no good

My cats used to love the old formula Would beg and cry for it, and lock it up almost instantly. Since the new formula, my cat barely touched it, turns up his nose at it, and tends to vomit on it. He has seen a very about it and discussed and has been concluded it's the new formula. It's frustrating as we've tried quite a few different boxes of the new formula, and same thing every time.

New formula is horrible

Brewski

My cat with CKD used to love this and lick his bowl clean. Now he won't even take one lick of it since the change. And now it is like a thick gravy. I feel awful because he used to look forward to it and come and get me when he was ready for it. Now he walks away all mad at me like l am trying to poison him. I went through 3 cases of it with no luck. And now l have one very unhappy kitty.

not as good since moved from France to Thailand

catmom

The original Hydra Care produced in France was a life saver for my cat. I'm confused as to how the replies to complaints in the change in the product since production in Thailand state there is no change in formula when the ingredients list clearly shows whey protein isolate then glycerin as the third and fourth ingredient in the French version, and reversed in the Thai version. Ingredients are listed in order from greatest to least, so that shows a change in amounts to me. The new version is thicker, some bags more so than others. I'm also concerned as to how one 3oz. bag was to be used for 5lbs. of cat, but now you have taken away .35 oz. and say this smaller amount is the dose per 5lbs of cat. It is not as good as it was and seeing as it is what was helping to keep my cat alive, I am hoping you would go back to how it was.

new formula is garbage

teebler

Starting in Oct our cat can no longer ingest this product - she throws up every time. We happen to have an older box and compared what we've been giving her for the last year to the new box we just received. There is a notable difference in the formula (who cares about packaging). We even tried adding water to the new formula but she still throws it up. What was a great product is now garbage.

Questions

1 - 4 of 4 Questions

What are the % of phosphorus and sodium content on a dry matter basis? To understand if it is safe to give to a cat that is already on c/d wet diet.

My cat did not drink the entire pouch in one day. Can I save it for the next day? If so does it need to be refrigerated? If she only drinks 1/2 of the pouch is it worth it? She weighs 6.5 pounds.

    1. The manufacturer says once open the pouch is good for 12 hours. I know people that refrigerate a portion and use within 24 hours.  There is a recommended amount on the box about how much they should have by how many pounds they weigh.  We feed our cat 4 times per day and put her portion down. Towards the end we usually mix hydracare with the remaining food and she slurps that up.

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS IN THIS PRODUCT!* NEED TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE,SO I DONT HURT MY CAT!> NESTLES DOESNT PROVIDE THAT INFORMATION!>WHY IS IT IMPORTANT YOU DONT GIVE THEM TOO MUCH?> P> ANY SIDE AFFECTS!* ANY BROTHS> THOSE ARE NATURAL!*

    1. I'm not sure where you're coming from BUT the ingredients are clearly written on the box as well as each individual packet. It also says "feed one pouch per 5 lbs of body weight per day to adult cats." My cat has been using this for three years and I have NEVER heard anything about giving them too much nor about any side affects. Quite the opposite, he loves it and our vet totally supports him.

Is it possible to purchase 2 pouches for a test run? My kitty has mega colon and doesn’t ingest as much water as I think she should. I have to put miralax in a soft pouch of pate which she loves and will devour it. Unfortunately this has been discontin

    1. I do not believe they sell them individually. I've only found them by the box. I would be happy to send you 2 if you want to pay for shipping.
