My male cat is almost 14. I know he is starting kidney problems due to the extra water he drinks at this point. and a bit thinner. lots of energy still. I read they need at least 50% protein, I give him wet and dry which i know is not good, but lots of wet and freeze dried chicken too, vit with dig enzymes. Can you suggest the best Wet high protein food and anything else from Petco?

Hi there. I was thinking about switching my cat to a better quality food. I know the first at least 3 ingredients should be chicken, chicken meal etc vs corn or grains. My cat is 20lbs. Vet told me he should be 16lbs & be on a low fat diet. I don't think his purina pro plan weight mgmt is helping anymore. Fat is 12.5% max in that food. But other foods have more fat. I wonder if a grain free diet would help keep him full longer? How many calories/cups a day he should eat? Worried about weightgain
I brought my cat (4 YO black American short hair) to the vet a few months ago after she was scooting frequently and her glands were released. Our vet said she needed to be changed to a high fiber diet which we did immediately (Image attached below). This was in fact one of the ones the vet told us to buy. My 15 yr old Maine Coon cat is beginning to have a little kidney “aging” according to my vet. “His kidney numbers were a little off - not bad”. He suggested a prescription food - KD - my cat will NOT eat it - 4 days now. He had been on Putin’s Pro Plan - prime plus - which he loved! Can you recommend a dry food with less protein and potassium. - which my vet says hinders the kidneys. Thank you in advance.
