Works somewhat to calm dog, but caused GI upset.

Works to calm reactive dogs to some degree. We have not seen a significant amount of difference, but some. What annoys me more than anything else is why this company cannot just provide the probiotic as is instead of adding all these junkie ingredients to trigger digestive upsets and other allergic reactions. Purina - this is a great concept, but would it kill you to just sell the pure probiotic instead of making dogs with sensitive stomachs more ill?

I cannot get over how well Calming Care works. My Shih tzu has been on it for approximately 3 weeks. We live near a Navy base and the jets are literally flying over the top of our house. She was shaking all day long and I felt so bad for her. A prescription medicine did not help her. The jets have been flying all day and she is in her dog bed sleeping. She is also terrified of rain (thunder). Last storm she was anxious but was able to calm herself after the storm passed. Highly recommend this product!!

I was almost out of options for my rescue dog's severe separation anxiety and ran across this supplement by happenstance. Had no high hopes, felt like it'd be more like throwing a thimble of water on a forest fire but got it anyway so I could say at least we tried. And then we saw a huge difference in a week. It wasn't a fix all but it brought her back down from the level of self destruction to where we could start to make headway as a whole. It got us back down to a livable level and she has been on it for months, still making progress every week. I highly recommend.

My six year old deaf, Dogo Argentino named Monkey, suffers from severe anxiety. Whenever we leave the house, he nearly has a panic attack until he finally calms down. He has super powers where he knows when we’re coming home 20 minutes before we’re coming home and it doesn’t matter if we come home at our normal time or any other time. He starts going psycho. Come dinner time he literally is spinning in circles anxiously awaiting his dinner. His poops have always been a little on the soft serve side. Since using this product after our vet recommended, I have noticed that his poops have become less soft, more normal and solid. While he still gets anxious, it doesn’t last as long. He still gets excited at dinner time. But one of the biggest things that I’ve noticed is, he’s always had super soft fur, and now his fur is even softer, as if that were possible, and he chews/nibbles on his paws significantly less. The only reason that I cannot give this a five star rating is because I buy this box every month for him and have been for about six months now. I have opened up fresh packets that were completely empty or a quarter to half empty. And at a cost of approximately a dollar a day per packet, it’s very disappointing. I have to order sooner and occasionally open a second package just to make sure he’s getting the correct dose. What would be amazing is to be able to get this in a jar with a measured scoop. And that way, since it would be done by weight, there’s no chance of a packet being empty.

A Godsend of a Product for My Pomeranian

VLW

Wow! Tried this with hope but not much actual expectation for my young Pomeranian who is highly anxious due to lack of any socialization until he was 8 months old. Had been giving him CBD oil and using various desensitization techniques to help him but with only minimal results. After a month on this powder relatives gathered at my house for Thanksgiving and I was really worried how my little guy would do. Previously visitors always had him barking, growling, trembling violently, and hiding, and he especially distrusted children. Imagine my shock and surprise when the visitors came and he tolerated them with only initial barking. He didn't try to hide away, he didn't growl, and he even let the grandkids pet him and pick him up. Everyone was astonished--me, most of all. I was literally joking, "Who is this canine and what did he do with my real dog?" Now, he still is a nervy dog and has other anxiety issues, but I'm so relieved we can have visitors without him freaking out. He's also a little calmer riding in the car, which has been another anxiety trigger. I will say the first few days of using Calming Care my dog had minor diarrhea and did vomit a small amount twice. I cut the dose in half and worked up to the full amount over the course of a week and had no side effects after that. I would like to know if I will need to keep him on this product indefinitely or not. There doesn't seem to be any information on long term usage. He's 18 months old now and has been using Calming Care for about 4 months.

I received a two month supply that I began using concurrently with my senior dogs' dry food. I sprinkle it on top and add a little water to soften the dry food a bit. My dogs love the taste and have refused food without the supplement on it. Around 2-3 weeks I noticed a more vibrant and lustrous coat. After 6 weeks I was able to brush out my high anxiety Aussie/Heeler mix for the first time with no anxiety. He was even inviting his belly to be brushed, which is usually something we have to have a muzzle on for, since he fear nips which has been exacerbated by his declining eyesight. I highly recommend this product and it is worth the wait for noticeable anxiety reduction. It is mentioned in the directions that it may take 6 weeks to see an effect, which does seem like a long time compared to medications, but I would much rather have an efficient supplement than daily medication sedation. In my other high energy Border collie/Aussie mix with an osteoarthritic stifle, I noticed improved/increased movement in addition to the other changes listed above. This dog has always been a runner and had put on some weight with less movement from pain. He seems to be less stiff and have an easier time rising and using the stairs.

Calming Care was not good for my dog.

My vet recommended we try this product for my dog who had digestive problems. We used it for a few days, one packet per day. By the 4th day, my dog stopped running and playing. She started falling off things. She fell off the chair trying to jump a few inches to my daughter's lap. The next day, she fell off the bed and then down the three stairs off the porch. That night, she was sitting on the shower chair while I was bathing her, and she toppled over, landing hard on her shoulder. During this time, her poops were abnormal and she didn't want to drink water. We immediately stopped giving her the Calming Care, and she was back to normal in a few days. Three weeks later, she's doing great! She has not fallen again, and she is back to playing.

At my vet's recommendation, we tried this product for 4 days, one packet per day. By the 4th dose, she started falling off things. She fell off the chair trying to jump a few inches to my sister's lap. The next day, she misjudged the distance to the edge of the bed and fell off. That same day, she fell down the three stairs off the porch. That night, she was sitting on the shower chair while I was bathing her, and she toppled over, landing hard on her shoulder. We stopped giving her the Calming Care, and she was back to normal in three days. During that time, her poops were abnormal and she didn't want to drink water. Three weeks later, she's doing great! Can this product be used in addition to Purina Pro Plan Fortiflora? I use Fortiflora to help with my dogs gut health. Looking for a calming supplement as well. Assuming the Calming Care doesn't have the probiotics needed for the gut?

  1. That is correct- you will need to use both FortiFlora for gut support, and Calming Care for anxiousness. Each probiotic targets specific needs.

Where is the breakdown of the percentages of what's in this? Wondering how much protein this dog food has?

  1. Not sure if this helps, but this is what I have. I can also tell you that I see a big difference in my dogs' behavior now that they have used it for a while. ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Bifdobacteriun Longum BL999 1 x10⁹ CFU INACTIVE INGREDIENT: Liver flavor, malodextrin B-2519
