Using a standard 8 oz/250 ml measuring cup which contains approximately 112 g of Pro Plan. We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily. MAKING THE SWITCH TO PRO PLAN Although you'll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets. Contains a source of live (viable) naturally occurring microorganisms. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pet's health, see your veterinarian regularly.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve tried so many different and expensive foods for my Frenchies and finally came to Purina. It’s been around forever. It’s worked out for their allergies and even for their picky eating. I wish I had done this a long time ago.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hopefully my dog will eat and like this food. I wish Purina would offer for sale, “trial” sizes of dog food, so if my dog doesn’t it, I wouldn’t have spent the money on a larger size bag of dog food that my dog might not potentially eat/like.

My picky eater loves this food. Plus, her coat is so soft and smooth. She has been on this brand now for 6 months and she always finishes her bowl.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros: I have a small senior dog (who acts like a puppy) who’s missing some teeth, and the little bites are great for him to eat easily.I love that this is a large bag so I won’t have to always be searching for the best deal on the 5lb bag!Cons: I was disappointed that this one doesn’t have the freeze-dried meat that was in the smaller bag I was using. That’s on me for not confirming before I purchased, of course, but I think my dog preferred the other kind. I am also a little concerned about it going stale before he’s finished with it, and it’s harder to store.Overall, once this is used up I will definitely be looking into whether there’s a big bag of the freeze-dried-meat kind available, assuming the storage turns out ok.My dog’s review: he gets excited when I start dishing it out but usually tries to “bury” his bowl of food for a while until he either is hungry enough to eat it or someone adds tastier food on top of it, which is standard for his dog food tastes.

My 6 year old Yorkie is overweight, I feed him Purina Pro Plan small breed chicken & rice food, (he loves the chicken pieces in the food),so I would like to know if there is a weight control food that is the small kibbles and also has the chicken pieces .

I have a 15 pound Pomsky who is a year and a half. He seems to have difficulty chewing your Purina Pro Plan Focus All Life Stages food. Would you recommend something specific to smaller breeds to aid in chewing? (He has no dental issues)

  1. I have a 12 pound Terrier, usually dogs tend to swallow most of there food when eating. Chewing seems to be secondary when a dog eats. I found that if you add a little water and some soft food (like a small spoon full well blended) he (Bobbie my Terrier) was able to swallow and chew with better ease. The purina pro plan has enriched his color and he seems much happier since we rescued him and started him on Purina small breed formula. Allowing the food to soak for a few minutes before you feed allows moisture to soften the hard kibbles. Hope this helps....

WeI have a nine year old female 21 lb Westie whom we had always fed grain free food. Her vet recommended that we switch to a grain dog food and suggested Pro Plan. Is my dog considered a small breed dog when it comes to Pro Plan products?

  1. Yes, my vet recommended proplan focus for my 18 pound dog who is a little overweight and only feed 1/4 cup 2x per day for weight control.

My cockapoo has reached an adult weight of 22 lbs. Is this food still okay for him?

  1. All of our pet foods are 100% complete and balanced for the pet and life stage indicated. We'd like to learn more about your dog. When you have a moment please call us here: 1- 800-778-7462. We look forward to speaking with you. - The Pro Plan Team
