[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was looking for a high protein puppy food for a foster pup. She’s having some issues, and was being very picky about her food. This food has been wonderful for her.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I rescued my puppy she was being feed a cheap food. I have always feed pro-plan to my animals so naturally changed her diet and her overall health has improved.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since starting this food, I was a bit nervous because I didn’t know if it would satisfy him or not. BUT HE LOVES IT! I add a bit of salmon or chicken to it and he goes straight to town on it lol. The only brand I will recommend for other pups!

Would this dog food be the right choice for my 11 week old American pitbull puppy? If not which would?

  1. Thanks for reaching out with this excellent question. We'd love to help you find a formula that will fit your puppy's needs and we need a little bit more information about your pup to make a proper suggest. Please give us a call at 800-776-7526 (800-PROPLAN). We're available Monday through Saturday from 8 AM – 5 PM CST. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We look forward to speaking with you soon. - The Pro Plan Team.

My 15 week old English springer spaniel loves this kibble and breeder recommended it: purina pro plan focus puppy chicken and rice. My dog will eventually weigh 50 pounds full grown. How much do I feed him at each of his 3 feedings a day?

  1. This is a great question and we're happy to help you out. When you have a moment, please give one of our specialists a call at 800-776-7526 (800-PROPLAN). We're available 7 days a week from 8 AM – 5 PM CST. We look forward to speaking with you soon. - The Pro Plan Team.

Listed in the ingredients is animal digest. Could someone tell me what the heck is animal digest?

  1. It is Purina's name for their proprietary digestive formula. It basically contains a mixture of various ingredients that help your animal maintain and soothe the digestive tract, like probiotics. Many other competitors would love to know the exact formula or even ingredients, hence the use of the name. I breed English Cocker Spaniels, which tend to have both sensitive skin and sensitive stomachs. I only recommend the Purina ProPlan (I use to work there, so I can vouch for how clean the factories are). Plus, with my two ECS pups, this particular product is the only one that doesn't cause my youngest to get the occasional tummy aches (aka. accidents in the house). It also helps keeps both my dogs regular, even when they are visiting my parents, who feed them table scraps. I hope this helps.

Is this food likely to give my puppy's breath a "fishy" odor? He's been on it since he was weaned by the breeder and is almost 5 months now. I've noticed his "fishy breath" for 2/3 weeks or so now.

  1. Yes, I agree that my dog's breath smells like fish food from eating this. However, he absolutely loves this food!

Hello  I have a golden mini doodle and she is about 25 lbs at 5 months - I have been feeding here small breed chicken and rice  What is the difference with this food and regular puppy food that you sell?  When I realised this after 4 mo

  1. There is more calories on large breed puppies food verses small breed food. Small breed has less calorie intake. If she’s going to be bigger then what she weighs now u need to switch her to regular puppy and not small breed.  I have a Australian cattle mixed with pit bull he’s small but I never had him in small breed. It’s just more calories for your puppy to grow

Just curious the price difference...6lbs. is roughly $10.00, 18lbs. is $38.00, shouldn't that be closer to $30.00? Thanks

  1. Are you referring to pro plan or the Purina one the red bag?  The 6 lbs pro plan cost about $17 at my store.
