Can I get prednisone for my dog without taking him to the vet
CBC showed low red blood cell count & VERY low white blood count. Vet prescribed 5mg Prednisone every 12 hrs 2nd CBC, 1 wk later showed normal red & high white blood counts. Continued Prednisone at 3/4 tablet every 12 hrs for 3 weeks. This sounds excessive to me, what do you think. Can damage occur with continued use of Prednisone? No diarrhea, No vomitting, No fever, Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Jan
My dog is on prescribed prednisone for a skin issue,she completed the 7 days of 1 20mg pill twice a day,now she is on 1/2 pill twice a day but thats all the label says,ive called and called the vet and no reply. I know my pup needs to taper off but when do i reduce the dosage again and to how much?? My pup is doing great,I want get her off this stuff
My dog has Blastomycosis. We have been treating her for a little over 2 weeks now. The vet put her on itraconazole 185mg caps (x30) 1 by mouth daily, and just last week put her on prednisone tablets 20mg 2 times a day for 7 days then 1 time a day for 7 days, then 1 every other day till gone. But it seems since we have passed the 7 day mark and dropped dose down to 1 a day now. Her muscles seem to be more weak..... her head is very sunk in, but she is drinking and eating just fine.....any idea wh
My dog is a 3 year Maltese with 11 lbs. He was wearing a Scalibur necklace for flees, and by that developed a red rash around the neck. We removed it yesterday, but today he is itching, breathing more heavily than normal, and squiling. We called a vet and she told us to give him dexamethasone. We have 0.5mg human dexamethasone. We gave him 1 pill 0,5mg 5 hours ago, and 2 more half an hour ago. Total 1.5mg. Is that enough? Should we give more? When will the effect take place? Thanks!
You My 9yr old German Shepherd was just diagnosed with advanced lymphoma... the vet prescribed prednisone (20mg). She weighs 71lbs, and the instructions say to give her 3.5 pills a day . That’s 70mg. I tried calling the vet to confirm this was correct , but I’m not getting through. Does 70mg seem right?

Can I stop predinisone for my dog after 5mg a day for 2 days and then 2.5mg a day for 2 days more? The vet said to give it to her 8 months ago for back pain after a bad landing when she jumped off a bed, 5mg for 5 days and half for other 5 days. It happened again, but the pain was less severe, she's all better now, can I stop the prednisone after these 4 days (5mg 2 days and 2.5mg 2 days)?

My dog was prescribed medication called remarking p: prednisone + trimepraz and I gave him pills total today 2 in the am and 2 around 3pm. He has a cone on so to not lick his paws that have abrasions from scratching the concrete so I gave him Benadryl to help him sleep. Is that ok? I wasn’t thinking

He still has one week left of the “every two days” dosage but he has had every side effect (prolonged urination, constant thirst/hunger, and some panting).
