Manufacturer warranty: 100% litter box use or your money back - guaranteed.

Pour one inch of Dr. Elsey's R & R Silica into a clean litter box. Remove solid waste daily and rake crystals to ensure freshness. Litter does not form scoopable clumps. A single litter box filled with Dr. Elsey's R & R Silica can handle multiple cats but we recommend using more than one litter box if you have more than one cat. Crystals may become discolored. The color does not affect the performance. One application will typically last two weeks depending upon use. After two weeks, completely dump the contents of the box and wash with mild soap and hot water. Refill with one inch of Dr. Elsey's R & R Silica.

Do not flush, dispose of litter in trash.

Pros and Cons

I tried two rounds of this (2 months) and it has pros and cons but ultimately it wasn't for me. BoxieCat Clumping Clay has worked out best. Pros: No Dust, and great texture for my cat, feels like sand which she enjoyed. Cons: The no clumping didn't work for me. While it does blend in and allows the litter to last for a while, when it is time to clean the box, you'll see that the urine all ends up on the bottom which is pretty gross. Also, there is tracking, and stepping on sand pebbles isn't great. It doesn't cover smells as well as you would think. This may be a great product for some but I prefer clumping to get rid of the urine asap. Also, the Clay clumping litter has less tracking and no dust.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Low dust!

I use crystal cat litter due to an asthmatic cat and this is on par with Pretty Litter except that it doesn't have the color changing gimmick. I have no need for color changing as it's difficult to keep track of with multiple cats, but I've always loved the sand like quality with the low dust.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Good odor control, not much tracking or dust, and my cat seems to like it. Unfortunately, I had to replace the litter after one week instead of the two it claimed. I followed the instructions and have two boxes for my one cat.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I think they renamed the respiratory relief and repackaged as stress protection because the product in the bag looks the same.

Took one star off for dust when pouring product into box. No noticeable dust after that, but does track somewhat. Otherwise, LOVE it's absorbency and odor control.

This liter is better than several other too silica liter. I tried this while waiting on my Pretty Liter to arrive. I have cancelled my prescription to Pretty Liter to switch to Relief it does what it says. Has better order control, littke tracking ( no more liter in my bed) and most importantly minimal dust way better than Pretty Liter. I have multiple cats and this liter is lasting longer. Also my cats fur seems to be getting softer and less shedding, must be because of less stress and dust. Highly recommend. I have to order this also but don't need subscription and can get monthly instead huge box for 3 month supply sent by Pretty Liter.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Preferred litter for cat with allergies

My cat has allergies and this litter doesn't cause them to flare up. It controls odor well for two cats and doesn't produce a lot of dust. The cats also seem to prefer the smaller size of the litter pieces in this one. They don't like silica litters with larger pebbles.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Do you use a non-slotted litter scooper for non-clumping litter? I want to buy this, but with our current non-clumping, I don't like that I'm spreading the urine around the box once or twice a day. Do non-slotted scoops exist?

  1. I use a slotted litter scoop. This litter clumps excellent and I don’t mix it with anything else. My cat that has respiratory issues cannot live with scented litter, but with thus litter you don’t need to mix. Just clean out the clumps daily. I have 2 cats and 3 litter boxes, I could get by with scooping less maybe every other day but since I’m retired that’s not necessary I scoop every day. I hope this helps you.

How does this compare to Pretty Litter? I like Pretty Litter but it’s expensive and it tracks EVERYWHERE with my cats long hair. I tried Dr. Elsey’s long hair crystal letter but it’s very dusty.

  1. This is not at all dusty. It does track a little when the cats first get out of the box but I'm not sure if it is tracking or being kicked out of the box when the cats are covering up.

Have 2 cats need to know about how much and/or what depth is needed for about one month's usage?

  1. While I haven’t yet used the respiratory relief litter, I can tell you about Dr. Elsey’s senior litter. The consistency seems to be very close, minus dust (from description and ingredients).  I put 1 entire bag into each box for my cats. I have a nature’s miracle deep box & a clever cat deep box. I have to change all every 2 weeks. I believe this would last longer with 1 cat. I am thrilled!! I’ll never use another brand!! The only reason I’m going to respiratory relief is because of my baby with stomatitis. Hope this helps a little.

Anyone willing to post a picutre of the actual litter with an object for size reference?  we have tried one kind but the crystals are too large and our cats dont seem to like it.

  1. It is the consistency of beach sand and fairly fine. Just switched from SoPhresh Crystal Silica to Dr. Elsey's Respiratory Relief hoping to reduce dust and tracking. My 5 cats made the switch effortlessly. There is no dust, minimal, if any, tracking, no smell. All in all, cats are happy and Mama is thrilled. It has lasted twice as long as my previous litter, so when you crunch the numbers the cost is the same as the previous, dusty litter. Yay
