I am very confused. My 14 yr Bichon had 2 oxalate bladder stones pushes back into bladder and removed. Thevet at the emergency hospital recommended royal canin so to get ph to 7. It is staying at 6.5 and sometimes 6. primary vet says this is fine and did not recommend potassium nitrate. By adding water to his food , the specific gravity is .010. I know stones tend to reoccur quickly in this breed and would feel better with a snd opinion. It has been a month since his surgery. Goes out every 2 hr
tony takes tumil k supplement, in total two & one half pills / day & they are huge, so I cut them up which equals 6 pieces in the AM & 4 pieces in the PM.(He also takes amlodipine every 8 hrs & methimazole every 12 hrs) the issue is the tumil k. even cut up they’re big pieces. Is there some other form other than pill for a potassium supplement? I’ve tried the powder,he needs so much of it that it’s very overpowering mixed in his wet food &he wont eat it. I hide the pills in treats but still Hard
Can you please give details about Himalaya Nefrotec DS medicine?
the consulting doctor is estimating tiny stones in bladder, as the urine analysis donot show the type of stone (struvite or calcium oxalate), he has prescribed alkaliser for making urine alkaline but struvite stones are dissolved in acidic urine only. please confirm if stones actually present in bladder or urinary tract and if so then best course of action. Dog is facing urinary restriction intermittently for 45 days now.
I have a 13 yr old cat, weight 10 lbs., diagnosed in 2016 with CRF. Creatinine 313. Potassium 3.7., 150mls Lactated ringers 3x week. Would potassium supplementation help with her low energy level? My vet is reluctant to add potassium to her meds. because it is difficult to adjust. Should I be seeking a second opinion?
You My dog just ate 40 potassium pills at 40 Mg a piece. I gave him 4 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide and he’s currently vomiting this up less than 30 minutes after pill consumption. Is this something to worry about or will the vomit followed by plenty of water be okay for him??
Is there an over the counter supplement I can give my cat for interstitial cystitis? She's 8. Good appetite and very loving.
Her ph level was a 9 and her white blood cell count was extremely high and her red blood cell count was very low. They gave her a common antibiotic for a bladder infection. Two weeks later her ph was down to 5 but her white blood cell count was still high. So they gave her another antibiotic for a week. Today her ph was back to 9 and they just now saw crystals in her urine and only a few White blood cells. just looking for a second opinion. They want her to drink bottlewater and eata specialdiet
A fellow pet owner suggested Vetoquinol Methigel for my cat who had a history of bladder stones (a calcium stone) 8-10 years ago. Does this work effectively to balance the urinary pH?
Regarding my question about : Blood in urine I was suggested by the pet shop to try out this herbal medicine from Himalaya. Nefrotec tablets. Review seems to be very positive and helpful. What would be your thoughts?
Does the Nutri-Vet Pet-Ease Cat Paw Gel work to maintain urinary pH for struvite stone dissolution and prevention? My cat has a past history of struvite stones (8 years ago) and doesn't eat the urinary SO diet (wet or dry) She is a picky eater and will only eat the blue wilderness salmon high protein wet food when I gave her options. But, I read online that some pet owners have used regular high protein wet food in addition to this nutri-vet or other dl-methionine supplements.
